Abstract

Purpose

Enterprise resource planning systems (ERPs) have provided new challenges in the management of organizations’ internal and external risks, and their adoption has triggered groundbreaking changes to internal audit practices. This study aims to shed light on the use of ERPs in internal auditing by identifying interrelations between postevaluations of the ERPs’ quality dimensions with internal auditors’ satisfaction, intentions to continue using such systems and perceived benefits.

Design/methodology/approach

Drawing on a unique data set of internal auditors’ responses on a structured questionnaire, and by using the DeLone and McLean’s (2003) Information Systems success model as the conceptual framework, this study tests the research propositions by using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).

Findings

The findings report statistically significant positive relationships among all three ERPs’ quality dimensions (system, information and service quality) with internal auditors’ satisfaction and intention to continue using these systems. Moreover, the study found that the benefits perceived by internal auditors were significantly influenced by their satisfaction with the system and their intention to continue using it.

Originality/value

The authors survey ERP postevaluation success factors in two unique contexts: internal auditors and Greece. Thus, the authors ground on previous research findings in diverse professional groups and national environments. In parallel, this study lends conceptual clarity and empirical evidence to a small but growing number of studies examining the implications of individuals’ perceptions, intentions and behavioral reactions in the context of ERP implementation.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to propose a theoretical extension of the information system success model (ISSM) to evaluate enterprise resource planning (ERP) success at an organizational level in Jordan. It explores whether information quality, system quality and service quality have a positive impact on both perceived usefulness and user satisfaction as antecedents of organizational impact.

Design/methodology/approach

A questionnaire was undertaken to gather data from chief information officers among Jordanian firms, with a total of 134 valid returns tested via partial least squares structural equation modeling.

Findings

The results showed that most of the research hypotheses proposed are empirically supported, with the exception of the influence of service quality on user satisfaction which was extremely low.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first empirical work that measured ERP success from an organizational perspective in Jordan. It also provides insight into how the factor of perceived usefulness is incorporated into ISSM in the mandatory system case and its influences on organizational benefits.

Abstract

Purpose

This research delves into consumer online shopping behaviour during the different phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, utilising the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the Behavioural Inhibition System.

Design/methodology/approach

A unique and comprehensive repeated cross-sectional methodology was meticulously employed, capturing the nuances of consumer online shopping behaviour across three distinct phases of the pandemic: the initial phase following the outbreak of COVID-19, the transition phase marked by the relaxation of restrictions, and the adaptation phase as society moved towards a new normal. The study involved a sample of 1,155 participants. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the effects of behavioural attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and the moderating role of pandemic-induced consumer anxiety on online purchase intention.

Findings

The impact of behavioural attitudes on online purchase intentions increased continuously from the initial phase to the adaptation phase. In contrast, the influence of subjective norms on online shopping intentions gradually declined over the same period. During the early stages of the pandemic, consumer anxiety amplified the influence of personal attitudes towards online shopping while diminishing the impact of social pressures on the same behaviour.

Originality/value

This study’s originality lies in its nuanced analysis of how online purchase intentions evolved across different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, integrating insights from both the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the Behavioural Inhibition System. The study offers a comprehensive understanding of the shifts in consumer behaviour over time. It enables more strategic and proactive marketing tactics in a changing environment.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to empirically examine accounting information system (AIS) success at the organizational level during COVID-19 era.

Design/methodology/approach

Based on the information system success model, this paper developed its model and proposed a total of nine hypotheses. This paper gathered the required data via a questionnaire from Yemeni small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owners and managers. To test the proposed research model paths, SmartPLS software, which is known as partial least squares structural equation modeling, was used.

Findings

The results showed that the quality dimensions (information quality and system quality) positively affected the use of AIS and satisfaction; user satisfaction positively affected the use of AIS. Management support positively affected the AIS users' usage and satisfaction. Finally, the use dimensions (user satisfaction and usage) positively impacted the net benefits in terms of gaining a competitive advantage, productivity enhancement and saving time and cost. In all, this research has succeeded in providing support for DeLone and McLean's IS success model at the organizational level during the COVID-19 era.

Practical implications

AIS is becoming increasingly important for SMEs in low-income countries like Yemen, particularly in the present pandemic conditions (COVID-19 era). By using AIS, users can access the enterprise's data and conduct transactions without being limited by distance. Indeed, AIS proved its ability in enhancing the net benefits at the organizational level in the COVID-19 era in terms of gaining a competitive advantage, productivity enhancement and saving time and cost. However, AIS can only be considered useful to the enterprise if it is effective/successful.

Originality/value

This study is one of the first to have assessed the impact of AIS success at the organizational level in the era of COVID-19 pandemic, the context of Yemeni SMEs.

Abstract

Purpose

Despite the increasing role of the data warehouse as a supportive decision-making tool in today's business world, academic research for measuring its effectiveness has been lacking. This paucity of academic interest stimulated us to evaluate data warehousing effectiveness in the organizational context of Jordanian banks.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper develops a theoretical model specific to the data warehouse system domain that builds on the DeLone and McLean model. The model is empirically tested by means of structural equation modelling applying the partial least squares approach and using data collected in a survey questionnaire from 127 respondents at Jordanian banks.

Findings

Empirical data analysis supported that data quality, system quality, user satisfaction, individual benefits and organizational benefits have made strong contributions to data warehousing effectiveness in our organizational data context.

Practical implications

The results provide a better understanding of the data warehouse effectiveness and its importance in enabling the Jordanian banks to be competitive.

Originality/value

This study is indeed one of the first empirical attempts to measure data warehouse system effectiveness and the first of its kind in an emerging country such as Jordan.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to assess the effects of presence on users’ information processing in mediated visualizations using immersive virtual reality (VR) and websites, focusing on information understanding and cognitive load. The impact of user interfaces on users’ perception of presence is also tested.

Design/methodology/approach

A between-subjects laboratory experiment using two user interfaces – immersive VR and website – is carried out. It is complemented by a self-administered survey on the participants.

Findings

The current results indicate that an immersive VR interface improves tourists’ information processing by producing a heightened sense of presence. The results confirm that presence facilitates tourists’ information processing by increasing information understanding and decreasing cognitive load. Finally, a negative relationship between cognitive load and information understanding is obtained.

Practical implications

VR user interfaces are not only visually appealing but also cognitively optimized. Immersive VR devices can be introduced in the specific sale process of cruise trips through both offline channels (physical stores and travel agencies) and online channels to facilitate tourists’ information processing during the prepurchase phase.

Originality/value

The primary contribution lies in the integration of the theory of presence with two influential information processing frameworks, namely, cognitive load theory and cognitive fit theory. This integration provides a holistic perspective on how user interfaces influence consumer information processing in the unique context of cruise tourism, particularly during the stage of a prepurchase information search.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to assess green marketing as an influential factor in the purchase of real estate. In this study, the consumer citizenship behaviour of young individuals will be studied with an assessment of real estate purchase intention, strategic green marketing orientation (GMO) and tactical GMO.

Design/methodology/approach

The sample frame consists of young consumers from India’s metropolitan cities. The respondents were in the range of 18 to 35 years of age. These cities provide a high standard of living, more career options and better educational opportunities. Five separate sections of a standardised questionnaire were used, and a structural equation model was used to assess a total of 393 valid replies.

Findings

Green marketing impacts the behaviour that influences the desire of young customer to buy green real estate.

Research limitations/implications

As the focus of this study is primarily on major cities, future research may study similar behaviour in non-metropolitan cities. The study can also be conducted among consumers of other age groups.

Originality/value

The originality, to the best of the author’s knowledge, exists in examining how young consumers’ opinions about green marketing impact their intentions to purchase green houses and real estate in India. This study will be accessible to all parties involved in the housing and real estate industries.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to involve both the development of a quantitative measure of outsourcing success that integrates recent research findings on expectations and applying the hierarchy-of-effects (HOE) model to investigating the influence of success on client satisfaction and recommendation intention.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper conducted a global survey of information systems managers and Chief Information Officers from firms who have engaged in outsourcing and analyzed the data using partial least squares (PLS).

Findings

The study analysis demonstrates the impact of client expectations on perceived outsourcing success, client satisfaction and intention to recommend. This paper also discusses how findings of this study provide important implications for both researchers and practitioners.

Originality/value

To further investigate the theoretical trend toward examining the impact of expectations on outsourcing success, this study extends the foundational success research by quantitatively demonstrating the robustness of an outsourcing success construct that incorporates expectations. Moreover, this study extends the traditional models of success by incorporating factors from each of the stages of client behavior, including cognition, affect and conation.

Abstract

Purpose

This research aims to look at how students feel about taking online learning (OL) while studying in higher education institutions (HEIs) using an extended technology acceptance model (TAM). The study looked into the factors that influence students' decisions to use OL, which helps meet their individual needs beyond the confines of the traditional classroom.

Design/methodology/approach

A study of 284 students from the universities of Gujarat in India was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire. The partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse the study's test results.

Findings

The result of the study confirms that perceived enjoyment (PE) has a fully significant relationship with the behavioural intention to use online learning (IOL), whereas self-efficacy (SE) is partially supported and system accessibility (ACC) has an insignificant impact on the IOL.

Research limitations/implications

Though the study focussed on the TAM to analyse the proposed model, future studies should address other constructs like ICT infrastructure, perceived behavioural control, experience, etc.

Originality/value

This research identified the key variables of students' intention to adapt to OL and offered a path to encourage higher education students to use online education as a classroom alternative. Educators in Indian administrative positions can better facilitate OL adoption amongst their student bodies by developing a keener awareness of students' goals and the factors influencing their views on the topic.

Purpose

There is a growing importance of business intelligence systems (BIS) adoption in today’s digital economy age which is characterized by uncertainty and ambiguity considering the magnitude and influence of data-related issues to be solved in contemporary businesses. This study aims to investigate critical success factors that affect business intelligence efficiency based on the DeLone and McLean model in Jordanian banking industry.

Design/methodology/approach

A quantitative research method through a questionnaire was used to collect data from actual users who depend on business intelligence tools to make operational and strategic decisions in Jordanian banks. The data obtained were tested using the partial least squares–structural equation modeling approach.

Findings

The survey findings attest that system quality, information quality, user quality, user satisfaction and user performance are important factors and contribute to business intelligence efficiency in the Jordanian banking industry.

Practical implications

The findings gained from this work can help policymakers in Jordanian banks to improve the business intelligence success and organizational performance.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to propose a theoretical model to assess drivers of BIS efficiency from the Jordanian banks’ perspective.
