Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to solve the abrupt deterioration of lubricant performance in high-temperature conditions.
Design/methodology/approach
Three silver pyrazolyl methyl pyridine complexes with different morphologies were synthesized. A four-ball tribometer was used to assess the tribological characteristics as an additive for pentaerythritol oleate both independently and compound with 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl)imide.
Findings
The results showed that when silver complexes and ionic liquids (IL) act independently, sheet silver complex 1 and rod silver complex 2 exhibit good lubricating performance; the optimal antifriction concentration of the ILs is 0.25 Wt.%. The tribological results of the compounds additive of ILs and silver complexes indicate that the wear scar diameter of compound 1 decreased by 16.914%, the wear volume reduced by 7.44% and the lubrication effect surpassed that of the two substances individually; rod compound 2 exhibited an antagonistic effect, intensifying wear; compound 3’s lubrication effect fell between that of the two individual components.
Originality/value
The compound of sheet silver complexes and ILs effectively solves the agglomeration problem of micro/nano lubricant additives. When the interface fails, self-repair is completed, improving the stability and antiwear performance of the lubricating oil.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to prevent the sharp decline in the load-carrying capacity of lubricating oil film under harsh conditions of abrupt changes in friction interface temperature, which is a major challenge in lubrication technology.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, we synthesized a series of silver pyrazole methylpyridine complexes containing a high metal concentration and minimal supporting organic ligands (complex 1 [Ag(LMe)]2(BF4)2, complex 2 [Ag(Li-Pr)n](BF4)n and complex 3 [Ag(LMe)(NO3)]2). The thermal decompose behavior of as-prepared silver complex was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS). Four-ball friction testers were used to evaluate the friction and wear properties of lubricating oil in the temperature ranges associated with the operation of modern heavy machinery.
Findings
The complex decomposed silver particles at high-temperature, which could fill the pits on the friction surface, change the wear form of the friction pair and reduce the roughness of the friction surface. Reduction in both friction coefficients and wear scar diameters was obtained by adding silver complexes in oil. The lubricating oil, with the additive content of 1.5 Wt.%, has the best tribological performance, moreover, the lubricating performance of the silver complexes in oil were correlated with their concentration and thermal decomposed temperatures, respectively.
Originality/value
As a result, a series of silver pyrazole methylpyridine complexes as oil additives can support friction and wear reduction under abrupt high-temperature conditions are intended to be a controllable backup lubricant additive.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to systematically study the dynamic contact stress, frictional heat and temperature field of femoral head-on-acetabular cup contact pairs in a gait cycle.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, four common femoral head-on-acetabular cup contact pairs are used as the research objects, mathematical calculations and finite element simulations are adopted. The contact model of hip joint head and acetabular cup was established by finite element simulation to analyze the stress and temperature distribution of the contact interface.
Findings
The results show that the contact stress of the head-on-cup interface is inversely proportional to the contact area; high contact stress directly leads to greater frictional heat. However, hip joints with metal-on-polyethylene or ceramic-on-polyethylene paired interfaces have lower frictional heat and show a significant temperature rise in one gait cycle, which may be related to the material properties of the acetabular cup.
Originality/value
Previous studies about calculating the interface frictional heat always ignore the dynamic change process in the contact load and the contact area. This study considered the dynamic changes of the contact stress and area of the femoral head-on-acetabular cup interface, and four common contact pairs were systematically analyzed.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of silver (Ag) precursor on friction and wear.
Design/methodology/approach
Thermogravimetric analysis of the oil with Ag precursor and X-ray diffraction of the decomposition product of the Ag complex were performed. The tribological behavior was evaluated on a UMT-3M Tribometer (CETR) using pure military-grade oil lubricant and the prepared lubricant at room temperature and at 300°C. Energy-dispersive spectroscopy of the chemical composition on the wear scar was performed.
Findings
When there is 1 weight per cent Ag precursor in the lubricant, the coefficient friction reduces by about 8 per cent at room temperature and by about 14 per cent at 300°C, and the wear probability also decreases, from moderate wear to mild wear at 300°C. There were more productions which could form metal Ag boundary films possessing low shearing stress and excellent lubricity at 300°C.
Originality/value
Ag precursors used as additives in a military-grade oil lubricant and excellent lubricity found at high temperature.

Abstract
Purpose
Polyaniline (PANI) has garnered attention for its potential applications in anticorrosion fields because of its unique properties. Satisfactory outcomes have been achieved when using PANI as a functional filler in organic coatings. More recently, research has extensively explored PANI-based organic coatings with self-healing properties. The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of the active agents, methods and mechanisms involved in the self-healing of organic coatings.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses specific doped acids and metal corrosion inhibitors as active and self-healing agents to modify PANI using the methods of oxidation polymerization, template synthesis, nanosheet carrier and nanocontainer loading methods. The anticorrosion performance of the coatings is evaluated using EIS, LEIS and salt spray tests.
Findings
Specific doped acids and metal corrosion inhibitors are used as active agents to modify PANI and confer self-healing properties to the coatings. The coatings’ active protection mechanism encompasses PANI’s own passivation ability, the adsorption of active agents and the creation of insoluble compounds or complexes.
Originality/value
This paper summarizes the active agents used to modify PANI, the procedures used for modification and the self-healing mechanism of the composite coatings. It also proposes future directions for developing PANI organic coatings with self-healing capabilities. The summaries and proposals presented may facilitate large-scale production of the PANI organic coatings, which exhibit outstanding anticorrosion competence and self-healing properties.

Abstract
Purpose
We explore the driving forces behind the channel choices of the manufacturer and the platform by considering asymmetric selling cost and demand information.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper develops game-theoretical models to study different channel strategies for an E-commerce supply chain, in which a manufacturer distributes products through a platform that may operate in either the marketplace channel or the reseller channel.
Findings
Three primary models are built and analyzed. The comparison results show that the platform would share demand information in the reseller channel only if the service cost performance is relatively high. Besides, with an increasing selling cost, the equilibrium channel might shift from the marketplace to the reseller. With increasing information accuracy, the manufacturer tends to select the marketplace channel, while the platform tends to select the reseller channel if the service cost performance is low and tends to select the marketplace channel otherwise.
Practical implications
All these results have been numerically verified in the experiments. At last, we also resort to numerical study and find that as the service cost performance increases, the equilibrium channel may shift from the reseller channel to the marketplace channel. These results provide managerial guidance to online platforms and manufacturers regarding strategic decisions on channel management.
Originality/value
Although prior research has paid extensive attention to the driving forces behind the online channel choice between marketplace and reseller, there is at present few study considering the case where a manufacturer selling through an online platform faces a demand information disadvantage in the reseller channel and sales inefficiency in the marketplace channel. To fill this research gap, our work illustrates the interaction between demand information asymmetry and selling cost asymmetry to identify the equilibrium channel strategy and provides useful managerial guidelines for both online platforms and manufacturers.

Abstract
Purpose
The present experimental study aims to investigate when a food safety incident occurs, how country image influences consumers' trust and purchase intention, as well as the relationship between trust and purchase intention.
Design/methodology/approach
Participants (N = 1,590) were randomly allocated into one of the eight conditions [(country competence: high vs low) × (country warmth: high vs low) × (clean green image: high vs low)], read the corresponding country image descriptions, and rated measures on trust in food safety and quality, and purchase intention of fruit imported from this exporting country before and after reading a fictional food safety incident scenario.
Findings
Results showed that the food safety incident led to a significant decrease in trust and purchase intention across all conditions. However, trust in food safety and quality, and purchase intention were still higher in high competence, warmth or clean green image conditions. The decreased magnitude of trust in food safety was larger when country competence and clean green image was high, and when country warmth was low. Food safety incident caused purchase intention to become more dependent on trust in food safety than food quality.
Originality/value
This study provides a novel insight into the impacts of food safety incidents on consumers' responses in different country image contexts including the human-related and environment-related dimensions.

Abstract
Purpose
Random point-contact between the space bearing retainer and the rolling elements may cause wear of the space bearing retainer. The paper aims to clarify the friction and wear behaviors of polyimide bearing retainer under point-contact condition.
Design/methodology/approach
Space bearing retainers were cut into flat specimens and the tribological behaviors of the specimens were studied under point-contact condition using a friction and wear testing machine. Different sliding velocities and normal loads were used to simulate the running state of space bearing retainer. The wear behaviors of the space bearing retainer were analyzed by SEM and white light interferometer.
Findings
The friction coefficient of the polyimide composites decreased with increase in sliding velocity from 1 to 5 mm/s. Moreover, with increase in sliding velocity and normal load, the wear rate of the polyimide composites decreased and increased, respectively. Moreover, the wear behaviors of the polyimide composites were mainly determined by the combined actions of ploughing friction and adhesive friction. The lubricating properties of transfer film and wear debris were limited under point-contact condition.
Practical implications
The paper includes implications for the understanding of the wear mechanism of the polyimide composites space bearing retainer under point-contact condition and then to optimize space bearing retainer materials further.
Originality/value
Under point-contact condition, wear debris can hardly participate in the friction process because of limited contact area. Consequently, the wear debris has limited impact on the wear process to decrease the friction and wear.

The purpose of this paper is to explore a new approach to solve the problem of positive and negative offset in the calculation process of integral elements, then propose a series of new grey relational degree model for cross sequences.
Design/methodology/approach
The definitions of cross sequences and area elements have been proposed at first. Then the concept of difference degree between sequences has been put forward. Based on the definition of difference degree between sequences, various modified grey relational degree models for cross sequences have been proposed to solve the measurement problem of cross sequence correlation relationships.
Findings

Practical implications
The grey relational analysis model of cross sequences is a difficult problem in grey relational analysis. The new model proposed in this article can effectively avoid the calculation deviation of grey relational analysis model for cross sequences, and reasonably measure the correlation between cross sequences. The new model was used to analyse the food consumer price index in Shaanxi Province, clarifying the relationship between different types of food consumer price indices, some interesting results that are not completely consistent with general economic theory were obtained.
Originality/value

Abstract
Purpose
This paper seeks to answer two questions: (1) where do a country's entrepreneurship policies come from? (2) How do they evolve and shape entrepreneurial activities?
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing upon the comparative political economy literature and the institutional perspective, this paper proposes a theoretical model of the origin and evolution of entrepreneurship policies. We use China as a case study to apply the theoretical model and demonstrate the evolution of entrepreneurship policies in three stages during the period 1978 to 2012.
Findings
The case analysis of China provides evidence and support for our theoretical model and unpacks the process by which entrepreneurship policies originate and evolve as the result of the interplay among constantly changing policymaking, production, and knowledge regimes.
Research limitations/implications
Because of the research context, findings may lack generalisability. Additional studies on policymaking and production regimes of different kinds and their respective roles in shaping entrepreneurship policies are encouraged to further advance this line of research.
Practical implications
This paper offers important implications concerning entrepreneurship policy and activities for policymakers, practitioners and other stakeholders in emerging economies.
Originality/value
Our study fills a gap in the entrepreneurship literature by expanding scholarly understanding of the origin and evolution of entrepreneurship policies.
