In today’s competitive world, information systems provide competitive advantage to a business. Whether a business follows cost leadership strategy or differentiation strategy, information systems have a strategic impact by reducing production costs and identifying the potential market segments. Communication is a key element in operating a business successfully. Information systems go a long way in simplifying things for a business by effective management of information.

Up to this point, we have examined many components that make up the Trauma Ecology Model (TEM). In this chapter, the implementation of TEM in organisations and healthcare systems is explored. The aim is to guide organisations through the process of implementation completely. Practical strategies will be provided for each of the six stages of the Fixen model of implementation. This chapter also includes discussion of potential challenges as well as suggestions for resolving some common issues faced in the implementation literature. You will find the Trauma Ecology Model Fidelity Measure (TEM-FM) in the Appendix a useful resource. As you navigate through each stage, I discuss how best you can utilise the TEM-FM to assess and monitor your organisations progress against clear objectives. As you read this chapter, think about your individual organisational context, and how best to apply this implementation science approach in a meaningful way. This chapter provides a generic implementation guide based on the implementation science literature, as such, we don’t unpack how to implement each component of TEM as specific and non-specific trauma organisations may have some diverging needs. Rather, I provide a framework which can be used by individual organisations as a guide to support implementation at different points in the TEM.

This article presents a General Theory of Social Systems. This general theory proposes a model and method for the design, behaviour, and development of social systems. The model advanced is an exposition of the universal composition of social systems in three‐dimensions. The accompanying prescribed method offers dissection and analysis of past, present, and planned systems from Micro to Meta scales in isolation and relation to external systems.

Globalisation is generally defined as the “denationalisation of clusters of political, economic, and social activities” that destabilize the ability of the sovereign State to control activities on its territory, due to the rising need to find solutions for universal problems, like the pollution of the environment, on an international level. Globalisation is a complex, forceful legal and social process that take place within an integrated whole with out regard to geographical boundaries. Globalisation thus differs from international activities, which arise between and among States, and it differs from multinational activities that occur in more than one nation‐State. This does not mean that countries are not involved in the sociolegal dynamics that those transboundary process trigger. In a sense, the movements triggered by global processes promote greater economic interdependence among countries. Globalisation can be traced back to the depression preceding World War II and globalisation at that time included spreading of the capitalist economic system as a means of getting access to extended markets. The first step was to create sufficient export surplus to maintain full employment in the capitalist world and secondly establishing a globalized economy where the planet would be united in peace and wealth. The idea of interdependence among quite separate and distinct countries is a very important part of talks on globalisation and a significant side of today’s global political economy.

Recognizes the inherent conflict between multinationals’ (MNEs’) need to respond to local markets while using global integration to achieve economies of scale; and outlines relevant research from the fields of both economic and organizational theory. Criticizes the process approach based on normative theory and suggests that loose coupling theory is a more practical way of looking at MNEs. The purpose of this paper was to synthesise a thermally expandable microsphere (TEMS) with fast thermal response property and small expansion temperature range, and investigate the factors affecting the expansion properties of the microspheres.

A new kind of TEMS with fast thermal response property was synthesised by suspension polymerisation method, using acrylonitrile, ethyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid as the main monomers; Mg(OH)₂ as the main dispersing agent; and isooctane or n-hexane or n-pentane as the blowing agent.

The TEMS possessed the best expansion capacity when encapsulated isooctane and n-hexane were about 18.5 Wt.%. The expansion process of the TEMS could be finished by raising the temperature to 18°C from the expansion onset, much less than the reported 30-50°C. The morphology of the TEMS turned from sphere to irregular concave shape following the content increase of the blowing agent.

A new kind of TEMS composed of acrylonitrile/ethyl methacrylate/methacrylic acid as the polymer shell was synthesised. These TEMS showed the fastest thermal response speed reported.

Ports, as one of the important links between different modes of transport within the logistics chain, have special essence since their efficiency and competitiveness will certainly have an impact on the chain, and hence the national and regional economy. Vietnam, as a developing country gradually integrating into the regional and global economy, is rationalizing its economic sectors, including transportation. In this environment, ports play a vital role for the purpose of achieving comparative advantages in the international market. However, the Vietnamese port system is burdened with outdated work practices, low efficiency and poor competitiveness compared to other ports in the region. This paper identifies some of the problems in the Vietnamese port system and proposes strategies to address them.

Defines Deming’s concept of “profound knowledge”, and shows how it addresses both the behavioural and technical dimensions of leadership simultaneously. Suggests that the responsibilities of leaders are to solve problems and to help employees in any way possible by knowing how a system functions, how system components may cause variation, and what the system delivers.
