Entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the creation of a resilient, green economy are intricately linked, particularly as conventional economic models grapple with existential challenges. However, empirical research addressing the connection between entrepreneurship and sustainability for a more balanced and resilient future is notably scarce. This chapter aims to bridge this gap by investigating the role of entrepreneurship in advancing sustainability and establishing a resilient, green economy. Through comprehensive research utilizing critical discourse analysis (CDA), three research questions were explored to draw insightful managerial and practical implications. In the intersection of entrepreneurship, sustainability, and a green, resilient economy, opportunities are seized by entrepreneurship amid limitations, while sustainability presupposes responsible management of resources for current needs without compromising the future. A green economy ensures adaptability, growth, and ecological stability even in resource-scarce conditions. The CDA affirms the influential role of entrepreneurship in pursuing sustainability and a green, resilient economy, drawing from 18 cases across public, private, and social sectors to highlight environmental, social, and economic impacts. Furthermore, the CDA uncovers power dynamics, ideologies, and social structures affecting entrepreneurship’s role in fostering sustainable and resilient, green economies. Collaborations between governments, corporations, and social ventures in diverse countries promote sustainability within existing social structures, fostering comprehensive development. However, imbalanced power dynamics pose challenges, risking potential social exclusion. This chapter concludes by addressing practical implications and limitations, aiming to contribute to an ecologically balanced and socially equitable future by understanding entrepreneurship’s role in promoting sustainability and green resilience within the context of power dynamics, ideologies, and social structures.

With the higher education landscape undergoing rapid transformation globally, institutions are compelled to rethink curricula and align more closely with the changing needs of students, industry, and the government. Effat University, situated at the confluence of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), shows adaptability, agility, and sustainability in the higher education sector. At the heart of Effat’s mission lies the IQRA core values, anchoring its academic and administrative endeavors and fostering graduates who are holistic, ethically grounded, and attuned to global challenges. This book chapter investigates Effat University’s distinctive approach, fortified by innovative initiatives, transformative leadership, expansive research activities, and the unwavering IQRA principles, as it positions itself to further the goals of Vision 2030 and the SDGs. Effat’s research, diverse in its scope and impact, ranges from cutting-edge technological advancements to interdisciplinary collaborations that address both local and global challenges.

Using a mixed-method approach and drawing from internal data and insights from the university’s archives the chapter underscores Effat University’s commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary education, research excellence, international collaborations, and sustainable practices, all harmonized by the guiding IQRA values. These concerted efforts resonate deeply with Vision 2030 and the SDGs, setting the stage for sustained academic excellence and solid foundation for future academic and societal progress.

Gas flaring is a crucial issue in the energy transition era, as it is a major source of carbon emissions in the gas production chain. The reduction of flaring could potentially contribute to eliminating energy poverty, as the amount of gas currently flared each year could power the entirety of Sub-Saharan Africa. Despite Iran's zero-clearing target, the country ranks third in gas flaring globally, with 12% share. This case study examines the reasons behind gas flaring in Iran within the Sustainable Development Goals framework. The study reveals that while technological and economic difficulties were the primary obstacles in early years, policy malfunctioning has demonstrated the wicked nature of a sustainability problem in recent years. The traditional top-down institutional structure has led to interference from public agencies and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) companies, complicating decision-making. The lack of precise criteria for finding best solutions, as well as the absence of appropriate control and monitoring mechanisms, has further paralyzed efforts to reduce flaring. The intensification of conflict between interest groups has added complexity to the situation. The issue has been further complicated at higher levels due to economic sanctions. This study offers practical solutions for reducing flaring in Iran based on global experiences and policies and programs of some selected countries. These suggestions address the policy, technological, and institutional aspects of the problem and aim to pave the way for sustainable and responsible energy transition. By reducing gas flaring, Iran can contribute to global efforts to mitigate climate change and create a more equitable and sustainable energy future.

The research about the concept of Halal tourism has emerged recently. It becomes the vital factor in determining the tourists's satisfaction or their loyalty. Thus, this concept needs to be developed in certain areas because it still not acknowledged. The purpose of this study is to align the theoretical foundations of Halal tourism to conventional tourism paradigms. It investigates the value of Muslim tourists' perception in the context of Malaysian tourist destination. The six variables of Muslim tourist perceived value (MTPV) are examined such as quality, price, emotional, social, physical and non-physical attributes. The respondents of the research are a total of 205 Muslim tourists in Langkawi, Malaysia during October 2021 (Langkawi Tourism Bubble). The results indicated four (4) variables have impacts on tourist satisfaction. Practical implications will impact towards cognitive, affective and Islamic (i.e. Halal) values on tourist satisfaction. It was examined as one of the priotitize destination experience on tourist satisfaction. The findings provide Malaysian tourism with significant managerial implications. It also impacted the Halal tourism as a new approach specifically in the post COVID-19 era. Hence, in improving Muslim tourist satisfaction, destination marketers should consider the Halal tourism. Tour agencies also should scrutinize the product and services value including destination attributes that they offer. The destination's competitiveness will be strengthened with the right destination attraction, facilities, accommodation and activities that suit Muslim tourists.

The research aims to identify changes in the banking system of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the application of green banking and its promotion as an innovative benchmark. To conceptually understand the problem, the authors applied abstract-logical methods of comparison and generalizations to study and comprehend the current results of scientific research by scientists from around the world. The authors analyzed the time series of development indicators of the banking sector for 2017–2022. The information base was statistical information provided by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. The banking system of the Kyrgyz Republic is developing progressively positively, in which green principles are beginning to be used to support green initiatives. For green banking to fully function, it is necessary to create an efficient and secure payment system that would help stimulate environmentally responsible financial transactions. For this purpose, the use of advanced technologies (e.g., blockchain technologies) will contribute to the modernization of the payment system. The high degree of dollarization of the banking sector helps attract foreign investment and makes it possible to develop foreign capital, which reduces the independence of the banking sector and hinders the free choice and implementation of priority green projects. Currently, there is a trend of de-dollarization, which poses new challenges for the banking sector to find compromises with foreign partners.

Saudi Arabia’s government’s dedication to modernizing and improving the country’s educational system has resulted in profound changes to the country’s educational environment. A key component of societal development, economic prosperity, and preparing the next generation for a changing environment is education. This chapter charts the historical development, emphasizing significant events and difficulties encountered at every educational level. The chapter describes the significant increase starting in the 1950s, focusing on worldwide standards while upholding moral principles, from its origins in Islamic studies to King Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s creation of a formal education system. Significant progress persisted into the 2000s, especially in the area of women’s education. This chapter also discusses the implication of Vision 2030 in Education and Research skills and provides significant insights for the elevation of the quality and the impact of education toward resilient social inclusive economic development in Saudi Arabia.
