Abstract
Skin cancer is the world’s most prevalent form of cancer, yet it is one of the most preventable. Examines the challenge of communicating the “sun‐safety” health education message to teenagers. Teenagers represent a key audience, because skin‐cancer risks are strongly linked to sun‐exposure behaviour and experiences during adolescence. Focus groups involving those concerned with child sun‐safety were conducted in both Australia and the UK. In‐depth interviews with UK teenagers were used to explore their experience of the Internet and their opinions on its potential as a channel for promoting sun‐safety. Both Australian and UK teenagers felt that they lacked information on sun‐safety. Interviews showed that teenagers thought that a good Web site should have speed of access, ease of reading and navigation, good links, audio‐visual effects and interactivity. They saw the Internet as potentially useful in providing information about sun‐safety, suggesting the use of celebrities, prizes with competitions, and teenage‐ rather than health‐oriented sites. The evidence from this research suggests that sun‐safety is a health education issue on which the particular communication characteristics of the Internet can be utilised to good effect. The results suggest considerable synergy between the Internet as a medium, sun‐safety as a message and teenagers as an audience.

Abstract
Purpose
The paper aims to address the combined attitude control and Sun tracking problem in a flexible spacecraft in the presence of external and internal disturbances. The attitude stabilization of a flexible satellite is generally a challenging control problem, because of the facts that satellite kinematic and dynamic equations are inherently nonlinear, the rigid–flexible coupling dynamical effect, as well as the uncertainty that arises from the effect of actuator anomalies.
Design/methodology/approach
To deal with these issues in the combined attitude and Sun tracking system, a novel control scheme is proposed based on the adaptive fuzzy Jacobian approach. The augmented spacecraft model is then analyzed and the Lyapunov-based backstepping method is applied to develop a nonlinear three-axis attitude pointing control law and the adaptation law.
Findings
Numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive control scheme in simultaneously tracking the desired attitude and the Sun.
Practical implications
Reaction wheels are commonly used in many spacecraft systems for the three-axis attitude control by delivering precise torques. If a reaction wheel suffers from an irreversible mechanical breakdown, then it is likely going to interrupt the mission, or even leading to a catastrophic loss. The pitch-axis mounted solar array drive assemblies (SADAs) can be exploited to anticipate such situation to generate a differential torque. As the solar panels are rotated by the SADAs to be orientated relative to the Sun, the pitch-axis wheel control torque demand can be compensated by the differential torque.
Originality/value
The proposed Jacobian control scheme is inspired by the knowledge of Jacobian matrix in the trajectory tracking of robotic manipulators.

New asymptotic approximations are established for the Wald and t statistics in the presence of unknown but strong autocorrelation. The asymptotic theory extends the usual fixed-smoothing asymptotics under weak dependence to allow for near-unit-root and weak-unit-root processes. As the locality parameter that characterizes the neighborhood of the autoregressive root increases from zero to infinity, the new fixed-smoothing asymptotic distribution changes smoothly from the unit-root fixed-smoothing asymptotics to the usual fixed-smoothing asymptotics under weak dependence. Simulations show that the new approximation is more accurate than the usual fixed-smoothing approximation.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to perform quantum chemical calculations based on the DFT method on four bipyrazoles used as corrosion inhibitors for the plain carbon (“mild”) steel in acid media to determine the relationship between inhibition efficiency and the molecular structure of inhibitors.
Design/methodology/approach
Several quantum chemical parameters, such as the charge distribution, energy and distribution of highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital, the absolute electronegativity (χ) values and the fraction of electrons (△N) transferring from inhibitors to the steel surface, were calculated and correlated with inhibition efficiencies.
Findings
The results showed that the inhibition efficiency of bipyrazole increased with the increasing in EHOMO, and the areas containing N atoms were the most probable sites to donate electrons for adsorbing the inhibitor molecules onto the metal surface.
Originality/value
It is a useful method to investigate the mechanisms of reaction by calculating the structure and electronic parameters, which can be obtained by means of theoretical quantum theory. Thus, the behavior and mechanism of the organic inhibitors can be obtained. Quantum chemical method can also be used to guide the selection and molecular design of inhibitors.

Purpose
Flexible hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) solar cells have many advantages, including lower weight, good flexibility and light sensitivity. Moreover, a-Si:H solar cells can be used as sensors, as indoor light sources and can also generate electricity. These solar cells are suitable for the design of portable systems and curved materials. The purpose of this study was to integrate flexible a-Si:H solar cells and wearable technology and to apply the dual functions of photovoltaics and photo sensors to smart clothing and eyewear.
Design/methodology/approach
The integration of flexible a-Si:H solar cells and tri-colour light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was used to develop smart auto-flashing clothing. In addition, we combined flexible a-Si:H solar cells and twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal (LC) cells to design smart self-activation eyewear.
Findings
The maximum power resistance value of flexible a-Si:H solar cells was used to deduce the equation of solar cell voltage value generated by different percentages of SUN (100% SUN means 100 mW/cm2). A solar cell was used as a photo sensor that connects a resistor in a series to the Arduino to detect the voltage value, and then different percentages of SUN are calculated from the equation. Applying the deduced equation to the smart phone APP and Arduino code, we developed a human–machine interface (HMI) to facilitate user operation.
Originality/value
In this study, the flexible a-Si:H solar cell performs the function of not only photovoltaic power generation but also that of a photo sensor. The smart auto-flashing clothing is suitable for traffic guides, joggers and people engaging in other night activities. This smart self-activating eyewear can adjust to light and protect the eyes.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the organizing practices of a Lakota Sun Dance, and to contribute to the literature on rituals and ceremonies in organizational culture.
Design/methodology/approach
The researcher acted as participant-as-observer during this extended ceremony. Fieldnotes capturing observations and informal interviews with Lakota elders were the source of data as recording devices were not permitted on the Sun Dance grounds. Observations were conducted for approximately 45 hours over the course of five days.
Findings
The Lakota Sun Dance can be understood through organizational theory, particularly through a unique integration of the concepts of agency, loosely coupled systems, and just-in-time organizing. The current research highlights the role of agency in organizational ceremonies.
Originality/value
This research offers a thick description of the organizing practices of an extended Lakota ceremony. The integration of traditional Lakota organizing principles with modern organizational theory is absent from the literature, and offers a unique perspective on organizing from a non-Western perspective.

For segmentation purposes, demographic variables are cheap and easy to measure, while psychographic variables are harder to measure, but can provide a more accurate insight into consumer psychology. The use of astrology, potentially, allows us to combine the measurement of demographics, with the psychological insights of psychographics. Suggests that a prima facie case exists for the suitability of astrology as a segmentation variable since it creates segments which are measurable, substantial, accessible, exhaustive, relatively stable over time, likely to respond differently towards different marketing programmes and have clear boundaries. Although it would be unrealistic to claim that astrology can be universally applied to all markets in all industries, it may have some use when applied to certain populations or sub‐groups within certain lifestyle and personality‐related markets.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework that describes three contending market regimes in converging industries, and to use this framework to study clashes between different regimes and the implication they have on firms' competitive strategies. More specifically, the challenges of competitors simultaneously acting in accordance with a competitive, a cooperative, and a co‐opetitive market regime.
Design/methodology/approach
An exploratory case study of the interaction between firms within the IT and telecom industry is conducted.
Findings
The paper brings forward clashes between different market regimes in converging industries and six propositions are formulated. The study furthermore shows how firms respond differently to a demand‐driven convergence, some act in accordance with a competitive regime and try to exclude others whereas others act in accordance with the co‐opetitive regime and cooperate with competitors to develop new product offers.
Research limitations/implications
The paper concludes that there are several challenges in transforming from a competitive to a co‐opetitive regime, and there is therefore a need to further explore the clashes observed in this study.
Originality/value
Few empirical studies have been conducted of the converging IT and telecom industries and this paper reveals several new insights about this market context and the challenges it provides. The paper develops a theoretical framework for an analysis of converging industries and provides an insight about clashes that develop between different market regimes. It also describes the challenges firms are facing as a result of these clashes.

Abstract
The mundane and expanded marketing mix concept has an important role in Western marketing literature for both tangible products and intangible services. The nine Ps – namely promotion, product, price, place, process management, personnel, physical facilities, public relations and power – are now the foundation for strategic planning in many companies. While the marketing mix concept remains an important framework for the Western world, its contribution towards the latter′s declining economic prowess in recent years appears minimal. On the other hand, the East Asian economic powerhouse has grown from strength to strength. This can be attributed in no small way to certain oriental traditions and philosophies – not the least of which is Sun Tzu′s The Art of War. Although The Art of War is now more than 2,000 years old, it remains the cornerstone for strategic planning in the East. Attempts to integrate the Western marketing mix concept with The Art of War from the East using examples drawn from the construction industry in Singapore. The lessons to be learned therefore should be useful for strategic planners in the Western marketing community.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose an attitude determination and control scheme for a low‐cost Micro‐satellite with defective inertia. Restricted by the payload design, the z‐axis inertia of this satellite is larger than the x and y axes, which is unstable for natural attitude dynamics.
Design/methodology/approach
An original operation mode is designed to avoid z axis from long‐time pointing to the sun during damping, which avoids some unexpected damage. In attitude determination design, EKF and UKF algorithms are compared on estimation accuracy, convergence time and computation complexity in attitude estimation design, which is referred to determine the final estimation scheme. A DSP‐based hardware solution is achieved and a semi‐physical testing and simulation system is built.
Findings
Simulation results show the 3‐axis stable mode can be built with the proposed scheme, and the unprotected facet of the satellite can be kept away from long‐time pointing to the sun.
Originality/value
The proposed ADCS scheme can be a reference for the future Micro‐satellite programs which share the similar configuration.
