Abstract
Purpose
This study investigates the impact of transformational leadership and transparent communication on employees' openness to change with the mediating role of employee organization trust and moderating effects of change-related self-efficacy.
Design/methodology/approach
A sample of 260 employees from banking sector of Pakistan through self-administrated questionnaire participated in this study and the data was analysed through partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The results reveal that transformational leadership and transparent communication help to create trust among employees of the organization which ultimately have positive effects on employee openness to change. Further, the results suggest that the presence of change-related self-efficacy significantly moderates relation between the transformational leadership and employee openness to change. However, change self-efficacy does not change the relationship between transparent communication and employee openness to change.
Research limitations/implications
This study contributes to change management literature and helps organizations to understand the importance of employees and their positive behaviour during change.
Practical implications
The researcher provides the guidelines for employers to craft change communication policy during the change implementation phase.
Originality/value
This study tests a mediating role of employee organization trust and moderating role of change-related self-efficacy in relation with transformational leadership and transparent communication on employees' openness to change which had not been tested theoretically and empirically in the context of Pakistan.

Abstract
Purpose
Effective performance management of local governments is essential for efficient service delivery to the citizens. This is especially true for developing countries where performance management of public sector is severely lacking. The purpose of this paper is to discuss a pioneering and effective performance management framework that has been implemented in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper outlines the design and implementation of the system in light of relevant research work. Latest digital technologies including smartphone applications and social media have been used to make the system effective and responsive to the needs of the citizens and sustainable in the long term.
Findings
The impact of the system includes a drastic reduction in polio infection cases by 90 percent in the province and the successful completion of one of the biggest afforestation campaigns in the world in recent years. In addition, noteworthy improvements in public health, education and municipal services have also been achieved through this system in a province that has a population of 30.5 m.
Research limitations/implications
The paper uses field data to highlight the positive impact of the system which has been operational for more than two years now.
Practical implications
The strong positive impact of the system supports the case for implementation of similar public sector reforms in other developing countries.
Social implications
The implementation of the system has resulted in significant improvements in social sector service delivery.
Originality/value
There is very limited literature available on successful performance management reforms in the public sector of the developing world. Therefore, this case study can be a very important resource.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the impact of corruption on bank stability and bank profitability separately for Islamic banks as well as conventional banks. Moreover, it also investigates whether the existence of Islamicity and corruption in the environment can moderate the Islamic banks-stability and Islamic banks-profitability relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
Sample of the study consists 136 banks comprising 70 Islamic and 66 conventional banks over the period 2015–2021 from nine countries with dual banking systems. Panel data fixed effect estimator with year effects is used to estimate the results.
Findings
Results of the study show that Islamicity is positively and corruption is negatively related to bank stability as well as bank profitability. Further, it is found that the effect of corruption is significantly different between Islamic and conventional banks, wherein conventional banks are more adversely affected than Islamic banks. However, an insignificant difference between Islamic and conventional banks is observed in the case of Islamicity.
Practical implications
The study provides theoretical and practical implications. On theoretical side, the study presents Islamicity as more reliable measure of religiosity based on Islamic values that can help in control of corruption by moderating corruption-bank stability nexus especially in dual banking economies which have high share of Muslim population. On practical side, the study recommends policy and operational measures for mitigating corruption aiming bank stability.
Originality/value
The results of this study contribute to the corruption-finance, religion-finance and dual banking literature. This study suggests that regulators and bank management must consider corruption and Islamicity while formulating their policies for better bank performance/stability.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the simultaneous effects of normal wall transpiration, stretching strength parameter, velocity slip and nanoparticles on the flow of a ternary hybrid nanofluid through an elastic surface. The goal is to understand the behavior of the flow field, temperature distribution, skin friction and temperature gradient under these conditions, and to explore the existence and nature of solutions under varying parameter values.
Design/methodology/approach
The analysis involves expressing the flow field, power-law temperature field, skin friction and temperature gradient in closed-form formulas. The study examines both stretching and shrinking surfaces, distinguishing between unique and dual solutions. The methodology includes deriving exact solutions for exponential and algebraic temperature and temperature rate formulas analytically by deriving the system of governing equations into ordinary differential equations.
Findings
The study reveals that for a stretching sheet, the solution is unique, whereas dual solutions are observed for a shrinking surface. Special solutions are provided for various parametric values, showing the behavior of the exponential and algebraic temperature and temperature rate, with a focus on identifying turning points that demarcate the existence and non-existence of single or multiple solutions. The solutions are represented through graphs and tables to facilitate a comprehensive qualitative analysis. The research identifies turning points that determine the presence or absence of single or multiple solutions, uncovering multiple solutions for different parameter sets. These findings are displayed graphically and in tabular form, highlighting the complex interplay between the parameters and the resulting flow behavior.
Originality/value
This analysis contributes to the field by providing new insights into the multiple solution phenomena in ternary hybrid nanofluid flows, particularly under the combined effects of normal wall transpiration, stretching strength, velocity slip and nanoparticle presence. The identification of turning points and the exact solutions for various temperature profiles are of significant value, offering a deeper understanding of the factors influencing the flow and thermal characteristics in such systems. The study’s findings have potential applications in optimizing fluid flow in engineering systems where such conditions are prevalent.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aimed to investigate the primary factors driving human resource analytics adoption in small and medium-sized organizations. The research seeks to confirm and expand the UTAUT model using direct predictors and a unique moderator to understand contextual complexities in a developing country.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed convenience sampling to survey 308 HR experts with an 88% response rate, uncovering valuable insights into technology integration. SPSS and AMOS 21.0 were used for analysis.
Findings
The influencing elements for adopting human resource analytics in these firms were performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions and social influence. Moreover, personal innovativeness, fear appeal and perceived trust were highlighted as additional significant determinants. Finally, perceived supervisor support was reported as a significant moderator in driving human resource analytics adoption.
Originality/value
The study comprehensively models the elements that influence the adoption of human resource analytics in SMEs of a developing economy. The research validates and expands upon the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, analyzing key contributors and a unique context-specific moderator using robust statistical methods.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to predict the antecedents of consumers' purchase intention of energy-efficient home appliances. This study incorporated two additional constructs (knowledge of eco-labels and knowledge of eco-labels) in the model of the theory of planned behavior. Consumers' enhanced trust for energy-efficient products is crucial to purchase intention. The second construct is consumers' knowledge of eco-labels. Knowledge of eco-labels would help to assess consumers' tendency toward environmental problems and intention to purchase energy-efficient home appliances.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a quantitative approach using a survey (questionnaire) method to collect data of respondents. Non-probability quota based on age and convenience sampling techniques were employed to select the participants of this study.
Findings
The findings of the study revealed that consumer knowledge of eco-labels, green trust, subjective norm, attitude and perceived behavioral control have positive influence on purchase intention of energy-efficient home appliances.
Originality/value
Eco-labels are served as a marketing tool to distinguish producer's products from others. Prior studies have only focused on consumers' general knowledge. This study helps marketers to understand and design strategies to generate more value for green consumers. This study also contributes to the literature on green marketing by employing the theory of planned behavior.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the irreversibility associated with the Fe3O4–Co/kerosene hybrid-nanofluid past a wedge with nonlinear radiation and heat source.
Design/methodology/approach
This study reports the numerical analysis of the hybrid nanofluid model under the implications of the heat source and magnetic field over a static and moving wedge with slips. The second law of thermodynamics is applied with nonlinear thermal radiation. The system that comprises differential equations of partial derivatives is remodeled into the system of differential equations via similarity transformations and then solved through the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg with shooting technique. The physical parameters, which emerges from the derived system, are discussed in graphical formats. Excellent proficiency in the numerical process is analyzed by comparing the results with available literature in limiting scenarios.
Findings
The significant outcomes of the current investigation are that the velocity field uplifts for higher velocity slip and magnetic strength. Further, the heat transfer rate is reduced with the incremental values of the Eckert number, while it uplifts with thermal slip and radiation parameters. An increase in Brinkmann’s number uplifts the entropy generation rate, while that peters out the Bejan number. The results of this study are of importance involving in the assessment of the effect of some important design parameters on heat transfer and, consequently, on the optimization of industrial processes.
Originality/value
This study is original work that reports the hybrid nanofluid model of Fe3O4–Co/kerosene.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the study is to analyse the occurrence and distribution of different tree species in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, as a baseline for further inventories, and estimate the biomass per species and plot. Furthermore, it aims to measure forest biodiversity using established formulae for tree species diversity index, richness, evenness and accumulative curve.
Design/methodology/approach
Field data were collected, including stratification of forest sample plots. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out, and locally appropriate allometric equations were applied for biomass estimation.
Findings
Representative circular 556 forest sample plots of 1,000 m2 contained 13,135 trees belonging to nine tree species with a total aboveground biomass of 12,887 tonnes. Sixty-eight per cent of the trees were found between 2,600 and 3,400 masl; approximately 63 per cent had a diameter at breast height equal to 30 cm, and 45 per cent were less than 12 m in height. The Shannon diversity index was 1.82, and Simpson’s index of diversity was 0.813.
Research limitations/implications
Rough terrain, long distances, harsh weather conditions and location of forest in steep narrow valleys presented challenges for the field crews, and meant that fieldwork took longer than planned.
Practical implications
Estimating biomass in Gilgit-Baltistan’s forests using locally developed allometric equations will provide transparency in estimates of forest reference levels, National Forest Monitoring System in Pakistan and devising Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation national strategies and for effective implementation.
Originality/value
This paper presents the first detailed forest inventory carried out for the dry temperate and semi-arid cold region of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to provide a broad understanding of the pre-completion stage and subsequent abandonment of mergers and acquisitions (M&As).
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 117 peer-reviewed, English language articles published in scholarly journals were considered in the review. The approach includes a descriptive evaluation of the literature, coupled with content analysis. The paper uses both positivist and constructivist approaches to qualitative research. The analysis is conducted with the help of R programming and Gephi visualization software. The authors organize the work around the event of outcome/closure of deal proposal.
Findings
It is found that earlier studies sampled on domestic M&As in developed economies (DEs). However, the interest of scholars has increased in cross-border deals and emerging economies (EEs) in the last decade. Various factors interact and facilitate the completion/abandonment of good and bad deals. The authors find that complex non-linear relationships exist, and there is a need for studies with other classification techniques focusing on predictive accuracy.
Research limitations/implications
The literature review is limited to articles available to the researcher using search terms related to M&A completion/termination. The databases accessed were: ProQuest, Scopus and Web of Science. However, backward snowballing was performed to avoid the omission of relevant articles.
Originality/value
The findings and subsequent discussions familiarize researchers and practitioners with an overview of research undertaken in the field of M&A abandonment. The authors find voids within the literature and suggest future research agendas.

Purpose
The purpose of the paper is to propose a novel Green-BIM team (GBT) through a framework that would be essential in mitigating barriers to Green-BIM integration.
Design/methodology/approach
An interpretive stance is adopted for this study. Through a qualitative survey, 25 experts with proficiency in green building construction and building information modelling (BIM) implementation were interviewed. Code-based content analysis was carried out using NVivo12.
Findings
The findings of this study signified the need for a GBT and proposed architect, client, Green consultant, designer (mechanical, electrical and plumbing [MEP], structural), BIM coordinator, engineer (MEP, structural), project manager, quantity surveyor and facilities manager to be involved in the team representing design phase, construction phase and operational phase.
Research limitations/implications
The experts were limited to the Sri Lankan context; however, the findings can also benefit countries with socio-economic and cultural backgrounds similar to Sri Lanka.
Practical implications
Findings will be beneficial for policymakers and industry professionals to promote a BIM-enabled green building environment. The proposed GBT model extends existing theoretical frameworks, emphasising the need for a multi-disciplinary team throughout the entire lifecycle of a green building.
Social implications
The proposed GBT model aligns with broader societal goals related to sustainable development. This approach provides a sustainable pathway to achieve economic goals for all stakeholders in the construction sector.
Originality/value
There is a dearth of literature on a GBT to improve the construction of green buildings in Sri Lanka. Thus, the developed model is unique as it presents a novel GBT for the Sri Lankan construction sector. Further, it elaborates roles and responsibilities of team members with comprehensive details on how to mitigate the barriers to Green-BIM integration.
