Abstract

Purpose

This study scrutinizes the evolution of thematic directions in the domain of growth-oriented women entrepreneurship research over the past two decades. Furthermore, it explores the implications of this evolution for future research and practical endeavors.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors conduct a bibliometric analysis of 741 publications from 2004 to 2023. The analysis first examines publication numbers and identifies important journals and articles based on performance analysis. Moreover, using science mapping techniques, the study provides four thematic maps organized into five-year periods, as well as a Sankey diagram.

Findings

The analysis reveals a significant surge in research activity, particularly since 2014, in terms of both the quantity and diversity of themes. The findings show that in 2004–2008, six themes were driving the research domain, but in 2019–2023, the number of themes increased to 24. Moreover, this study offers a holistic perspective on prospective research directions, emphasizing two key themes: emerging economies and sustainability.

Originality/value

This study makes an important contribution by bringing together scholarship on women entrepreneurs and growth-oriented ventures. These themes can be a significant factor in stimulating new approaches to economic growth when considered together. Moreover, this study emphasizes the need for a more diverse and inclusive research environment.

Abstract

Purpose

Supply chain (SC) research has boomed over the past two decades. Significant contributions have been made to the field from various analytical and decision-making perspectives. This paper, a comprehensive bibliometric study, aims to identify the key research contributors, institutions and themes.

Design/methodology/approach

A comprehensive knowledge domain visualization of over 1,000 articles, published between 2000 and 2022, is carried out to construct a bird’s eye view of the field in terms of research production, key authors, main publication outlets, geographic disparity of the contributions and emerging research trends. Additionally, collaboration patterns among researchers and institutions are mapped to highlight the communication networks underlying research initiatives.

Findings

Results show an explosive growth in the number of articles tackling supply chain optimization (SCO) issues with a significant concentration of the contributions in a relatively small cluster of authors, journals, institutions and countries. Among the many important findings, our analysis indicates that mixed-integer linear programming is the most commonly used model, while robust optimization is the method of choice for handling uncertainty. Furthermore, most SC models are developed at only one level of the organizational hierarchy and consider only one planning horizon. The importance of developing integrated SCO systems is key for future research.

Originality/value

The study fills the optimization techniques gap that exists in SC management bibliometric studies and presents a thematic map for the SCO research highlighting the various research foci.

Abstract

Purpose

Green knowledge management (GKM) has become a more prominent research topic because of its ability to balance business sustainability, performance and society's well-being. The purpose of this paper is to study how GKM literature evolved before and after two major events: the introduction of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the first conceptualization of GKM. In this paper, GKM is holistically examined following the stages of the knowledge management cycle, a framework for organizational knowledge-processing phases.

Design/methodology/approach

This study performed a bibliometric analysis of 1,274 papers related to GKM from 1995 until January 2024.

Findings

Over the three decades, this research outlined the intertwined relationships between core themes in the domain such as knowledge management in the context of corporate social responsibilities, sustainable development (SD), competitive advantage and so on, and popular theories. GKM evolved from an “industrial and technical view” of knowledge management to a more emerging perspective of a “social process.” Emerging themes were identified such as green innovation, information security or organizational learning sub-themes with key technologies like block-chain, big data analytics and artificial intelligence. Future research can explore themes such as green knowledge integration, green entrepreneurship, green supply chain and green knowledge integration capabilities.

Practical implications

This review offers practitioners a holistic picture of GKM to tackle emerging environmental concerns and increase businesses' competitive advantages. This study provides insights into the future practices of GKM, incorporating emerging technological advancement, to gain green intellectual capital and build dynamic capabilities for sustainability.

Originality/value

To the best of authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to provide a comprehensive picture of the GKM literature, from its earliest forms of corporate social responsibility and SD until the introduction of SDGs, and in combination with the evolution of knowledge management cycle stages.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to examine the characteristics of cross-border central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) while pinpointing research trends and adoption variables at both individual and macroeconomic levels. Additionally, it delves into the impact of terminology within CBDC-related scholarly literature themes.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors perform a bibliometric study using the metadata of academic papers about CBDC from ScienceDirect, Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), three reputable research databases. Word maps are produced using VOSviewer, an open-source bibliometric analytics program, to find pertinent and predominate words and phrases based on their frequency, placement, connection and co-occurrence. Additionally, the authors use the R programing language to assess the Jaccard similarity between bibliometric metadata and the financial terms in the Loughran-McDonald Master Dictionary (LMMD).

Findings

The study pinpoints the factors that affect CBDC adoption at the micro and macroeconomic levels. Insights into prospective future study themes are provided by the analysis of the metadata corpus, which shows significant and predominate words/phrases and themes in CBDC literature. Notably, the relatively low Jaccard similarity scores in the scholarly literature on CBDC-related topics across all three bibliometric databases suggest a restricted concentration on financial issues. This shows that CBDC research is still in its early stages and that there are still many undiscovered financial aspects.

Originality/value

The identification of literature’s themes using dominant and pertinent words based on bibliometric metadata, considering factors such as frequency and co-occurrence, enriches the evolving field of meta-analysis. Additionally, the use of the Jaccard index to assess the coverage of financial terms within bibliometric metadata represents a unique approach, shedding light on the distinctive aspects of CBDC research.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to understand and a lay a foundation of how analytics has been used in depression management, this study conducts a systematic literature review using two techniques – text mining and manual review. The proposed methodology would aid researchers in identifying key concepts and research gaps, which in turn, will help them to establish the theoretical background supporting their empirical research objective.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper explores a hybrid methodology for literature review (HMLR), using text mining prior to systematic manual review.

Findings

The proposed rapid methodology is an effective tool to automate and speed up the process required to identify key and emerging concepts and research gaps in any specific research domain while conducting a systematic literature review. It assists in populating a research knowledge graph that does not reach all semantic depths of the examined domain yet provides some science-specific structure.

Originality/value

This study presents a new methodology for conducting a literature review for empirical research articles. This study has explored an “HMLR” that combines text mining and manual systematic literature review. Depending on the purpose of the research, these two techniques can be used in tandem to undertake a comprehensive literature review, by combining pieces of complex textual data together and revealing areas where research might be lacking.
