Abstract

Purpose

The main purpose of this work is a bibliometric and descriptive review of the literature on instruction planning of training offered in the e-learning modality in work corporations to identify methodologies and experiences that will serve as a model for professionals working in planning e-learning training in the corporate context.

Design/methodology/approach

The timeline from 2010 to 2020 was adopted. Data were extracted from five databases and were compiled in the software Zotero. Based on defined criteria, 260 productions were identified. The interrelation and metric presentation of the data from these studies were done in the software VosViewer. Subsequently, were selected only free access papers, resulting in 64 publications. From these, we chose 6 empirical studies for a descriptive analysis based on specific criteria.

Findings

The range of hardware and software platforms has stimulated the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) resources in corporative training. The use of management tools, such as Voice of Customer (VOC) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD), can support those responsible for instructional planning. The literature presented important elements that should be considered for the proper planning of an e-Learning training: learner: feedback, control of self-learning process, classification of cultural profiles in the case of courses in which participants are geographically distant and training management: content and delivery mode of instruction.

Originality/value

We selected 6 empirical studies that presented models, systems or experiences on training planning to support decisions in this area. This article contributes to the area of T&D showing an updated context of practices for the implementation of training systems that have been adopted in several countries. We present quantitative indicators of scientific production using two additional software to support the bibliometric review: Zotero and VosViewer. This article used five databases and a research equation to systematically present the current panorama of research on training planning from the perspective of the areas of management and organizational psychology.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of the genotype on the mineral composition (Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Se, Zn and K) of peanuts.

Design/methodology/approach

Samples of peanut of three genotypes common names cultivar cavalo vermelho (CCV), cultivar cavalo rosa (CCR) and cultivar tatu (CTA) were used. They were grown in the Maringá, Paraná State region in the same period and were purchased directly from the producer. About 500 g of each genotype were purchased and divided into five equal parts. Each part was analyzed separately and in triplicate (n=15). Mineral analysis was performed in an atomic absorption spectrophotometer with flame ionization.

Findings

Among the analyzed minerals, K occurred in the greatest amount (−600 mg · 100 g−1 of sample), followed by Mg (−250 mg · 100 g−1 of sample), and calcium (−65 mg · 100 g−1 of sample). These values were statistically equal for the investigated genotypes. The iron content varied significantly between samples (from 2.7 to 4.6 mg · 100 g−1 of sample). Zinc content ranged between 6 and 10 mg · 100 g−1 of sample. The contents of the other minerals (Cu, Mn, and Se) were lower than 4 mg · 100 g−1 of sample for all genotypes. The quantities of Mn and Se ranged between 1.2 and 2.1 mg · 100 g−1.

Originality/value

Have few studies of comparative variation in minerals contents in different genotypes of peanuts. In relation to the RDI, the paper observed that 100 g of peanuts can provide significant amounts of most minerals or even more than the RDI amounts, all genotypes being very nutritious.

Abstract

We present a critical literature review debating Brazilian research on social and environmental accounting (SEA). The aim of this study is to understand the role of politics in the construction of hegemonies in SEA research in Brazil. In particular, we examine the role of hegemony in relation to the co-option of SEA literature and sustainability in the Brazilian context by the logic of development for economic growth in emerging economies. The methodological approach adopts a post-structural perspective that reflects Laclau and Mouffe’s discourse theory. The study employs a hermeneutical, rhetorical approach to understand and classify 352 Brazilian research articles on SEA. We employ Brown and Fraser’s (2006) categorizations of SEA literature to help in our analysis: the business case, the stakeholder–accountability approach, and the critical case. We argue that the business case is prominent in Brazilian studies. Second-stage analysis suggests that the major themes under discussion include measurement, consulting, and descriptive approach. We argue that these themes illustrate the degree of influence of the hegemonic politics relevant to emerging economics, as these themes predominantly concern economic growth and a capitalist context. This paper discusses trends and practices in the Brazilian literature on SEA and argues that the focus means that SEA avoids critical debates of the role of capitalist logics in an emerging economy concerning sustainability. We urge the Brazilian academy to understand the implications of its reifying agenda and engage, counter-hegemonically, in a social and political agenda beyond the hegemonic support of a particular set of capitalist interests.

Abstract

Purpose

In a systemic approach, a ship is a system in which people and organizations interact directly and indirectly in all processes from construction, during the route and at the destination, throughout its useful life, until eventual scrapping or disposal process. The purpose of this paper is to take on the UN 2030 Agenda ‒ Goal 14 to propose a management model that meets environmental guidelines for assessing impacts caused by the cruise ships.

Design/methodology/approach

To verify the proposed model, a quantitative survey using non-probability purposive sampling was conducted among ports, environmental sustainability experts and ocean cruise companies. The empirical data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling.

Findings

Findings have confirmed five environmental requirements that shipping companies must manage on their cruise ships to meet Goal 14: input management, waste management, air quality, energy management and water management. Adopting and disseminating sustainable development models provides transparent information about actions taken and results of environmental management, and it may change the perception of the organization’s image, which is relevant to win and maintain environment-friendly customers, adding intangible value to the tourism product.

Research limitations/implications

One of the limitations of the study is the research sample, especially ocean cruise companies, which can have biased results, as they are potential sources of environmental impacts. However, this was not the case, since the answers were similar to those of the other two groups surveyed.

Originality/value

The originality of the study is justified by researchers who argue that information provided by shipping companies on sustainability is very limited, as according to previous research, the convergence between strategy formulation model and environmental sustainability as a principle to be incorporated into the management of oceangoing vessels has not been studied.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to understand the role of resilience enablers in combating counterfeits in the medicine supply chain based on a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The objective is also to help practitioners and scholars as the review revealed that little research has been conducted on selecting and implementing practices to improve resilience to counterfeiting.

Design/methodology/approach

Based on the literature review, a content analysis was performed for 84 selected papers to explore the potential relationship among resilience enablers and counterfeit anti-measures.

Findings

This paper contributes to Supply Chain Resilience (SCR) research by summarizing the highly fragmented literature concerning how to combat counterfeiting. The SLR indicated reengineering, collaboration, visibility, innovation, SCR culture and trust as six key enablers to combat counterfeit medicines and identified literature gaps. Moreover, the paper discusses other resilience enablers which have been less studied in the literature and shows new avenues of research.

Research limitations/implications

This paper is limited in that it is an exploratory literature review and focuses only on three databases over the past 15 years. Furthermore, counterfeit is a rapidly evolving issue and anti-measure studies require frequent surveillance concerning new discoveries.

Originality/value

The main contribution of this paper is to provide a better understanding of enablers most often associated with counterfeit anti-measures, which, therefore, might help to increase resilience to counterfeit medicines. Moreover, research gaps involving enablers less associated with anti-measures are presented.

Purpose

Overall, selection maps about the extent of the eutectic growth projects the solidification velocities leading to given microstructures. This is because of limitations of most of the set of results when obtained for single thermal gradients within the experimental spectrum. In these cases, associations only with the solidification velocity could give the false impression that reaching a given velocity would be enough to reproduce a result. However, that velocity must necessarily be accompanied by a specific thermal gradient during transient solidification. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to not only project velocity but also include the gradients acting for each velocity.

Design/methodology/approach

Compilation of solidification velocity, v, thermal gradient, G, and cooling rate, Ṫ, data for Sn-Cu and Sn-Bi solder alloys of interest is presented. These data are placed in the form of coupled growth zones according to the correlated microstructures in the literature. In addition, results generated in this work for Sn-(0.5, 0.7, 2.0, 2.8)% Cu and Sn-(34, 52, 58)% Bi alloys solidified under non-stationary conditions are added.

Findings

When analyzing the cooling rate (Ṫ = G.v) and velocity separately, in or around the eutectic composition, a consensus cannot be reached on the resulting microstructure. The (v vs. G) + cooling rate diagrams allow comprehensive analyzes of the combined v and G effects on the subsequent microstructure of the Sn-Cu and Sn-Bi alloys.

Originality/value

The present paper is devoted to the establishment of (v vs. G) + cooling rate diagrams. These plots may allow comprehensive analyses of the combined v and G effects on the subsequent microstructure of the Sn-Cu and Sn-Bi alloys. This microstructure-processing mapping approach is promising to predict phase competition and resulting microstructures in soldering of Sn-Cu and Sn-Bi alloys. These two classes of alloys are of interest to the soldering industry, whereas manipulation of their microstructures is considered of utmost importance for the metallurgical quality of the product.

Purpose

This study aimed at the addition of grape residue flours in beef meatballs to evaluate their behavior on physic-chemical and sensory properties. Furthermore, it is intended to discuss the importance of the substitution of synthetic additives with natural ones, the enhancement of consumers' diets and the prevention of inappropriate waste disposal.

Design/methodology/approach

The grapes' residues were collected from wine production and transformed into flour. Their proximal chemical composition and antioxidant activities were analyzed. Then, meatballs were formulated with 0 (control), 3.5 and 7% grape flours. Lipid oxidation analyzes were performed on raw and thermally processed meatballs. Triangle and ranking sensory tests were performed to assess the consumer's perception of product appearance and flavor and the consumer's preference, respectively.

Findings

Bordeaux and Trebbiano grape flours were rich in dietary fibers, composed of 44.2 and 55.6% fibers, respectively. They showed a high antioxidant activity, in which Trebbiano was high than Bordeaux. The addition of grape flours reduced the lipid oxidation of meatballs by close to 50% than the control sample. Differences in the appearance and flavor of some meatballs were identified by the panelists; however, the flavor's change did not displease them.

Originality/value

The grape residue is rich in phenolic compounds, natural dyes and dietary fibers. Its addition as a functional ingredient in meatballs reduces the addition of synthetic additives, adds fiber to the consumer's diet and prevents inappropriate waste disposal.
