Abstract
Purpose
This study offers an empirical framework for how hotel employees CSR perceptions affect their job satisfaction by incorporating the parallel mediating roles of organizational identification and psychological contract fulfillment. In addition, it examines the moderator effects of employees' CSR-induced attributions on the constructed mediated model, providing a powerful lens through which to evaluate when and how employees' CSR perceptions influence organizational identification and psychological contract fulfillment.
Design/methodology/approach
The study use PLS-SEM techniques to analyze a sample of 520 employees from 49 luxury hotels with 4–5 stars in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam.
Findings
The results show that CSR positively influences job satisfaction through the mediating role of psychological contract fulfillment and organizational identification. Besides, attachment styles also play moderator role in the relationship between CSR and psychological contract fulfillment/organizational identification.
Practical implications
The discoveries elucidated within this research endeavor proffer actionable discernments to be earnestly contemplated by professionals entrenched in the hotel industry, earnestly aspiring to ameliorate the contentment of their workforce and, concomitantly, augment the overarching efficacy of their organizational operations.
Originality/value
This study provides human resource departments with insights and suggestions for maximizing the efficacy of CSR implementation in the hotel industry.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to identify factors that can improve customer service performance by verifying the relationships between these factors, such as customer orientation, firm-specific resource integration, transactive memory system and service innovation capability. In other words, this study identifies the determinants of customer service performance from the perspective of the resource advantage theory of competition.
Design/methodology/approach
This research was conducted through an online survey of hotel managers and supervisors in Indonesia, which produced 327 questionnaires that could be processed with a response rate of 70.6%. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses with the help of AMOS 23.
Findings
This study confirms that firm-specific resource integration can improve customer service performance, with the antecedents of the former being customer orientation and a transactive memory system.
Research limitations/implications
This research was conducted with a sample of three-, four- and five-star hotels, which have different conditions. In future research, it would be interesting to compare how such hotels over a larger geographical area behave in improving customer service performance using the investigated variables.
Originality/value
This research provides additional insight into the resource advantage theory of competition, namely, that integrated enterprise-specific resources are good antecedents for innovation and customer service performance.

Purpose
This paper presents a comprehensive decision-making framework designed for family-owned hotels, specifically focusing on evaluating and selecting suppliers and strategic partners, with a particular emphasis on Iranian holding companies and five-star hotels.
Design/methodology/approach
The research emphasizes the unique position of family-owned hotels as not only commercial enterprises but also embodiments of tradition, personal touch and community engagement, which sets them apart in a competitive market. Through a detailed literature review, methodology and analysis, including fuzzy analysis and the TOPSIS method, the study systematically evaluates various criteria crucial for selecting suppliers and strategic partners.
Findings
The framework evaluates criteria such as price competitiveness, quality of products/services, reliability and timeliness, flexibility and scalability, communication and responsiveness, after-sales service and support, ethical and sustainable practices, technology and innovation, and compatibility with business culture. By integrating these parameters, the framework addresses both operational needs and strategic objectives, ensuring chosen suppliers and partners align with the hotels' core values and operational requirements.
Research limitations/implications
The study offers valuable insights for family-owned hospitality businesses to navigate supplier and strategic partner selection, and opens avenues for future research, particularly in adapting to technological advancements, sustainability practices and the evolving dynamics of the hospitality industry.
Social implications
The research underscores the significance of family-owned hotels in fostering tradition, personal connection and community engagement, contributing to the social fabric of the hospitality industry.

Purpose
This study aims to test the complaints of tourists who visit five-star hotels in Antalya, Turkey, on those same hotels’ websites.
Design/methodology/approach
In the study, the data were collected with qualitative methods but analyzed with the mixed analysis method. In this context, the authors collected 1,012 comments on the website between 2016 and 2019.
Findings
According to the results of the study, the most intense complaints were found to be concentrated in categories such as ambience, food and staff.
Originality/value
First of all, it is thought that it will make an important contribution to the literature, since different methodologies are adopted in the study. In addition, online shares, evaluations and comments produce positive or negative results for the destination or business in question. It is necessary to closely monitor such activities in electronic environments, as they may have negative consequences, thus revealing the need to take corrective or preventive measures. For this reason, the research is important in terms of not having such a large-scale study in the literature and contributing to the hospitality industry.

Case overview/synopsis
Nam Nghi Resort, situated on the picturesque Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, experienced the tumultuous period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, Nam Nghi was a thriving five-star resort, deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture and renowned for its luxurious amenities and breathtaking location. However, the onset of COVID-19 brought unprecedented challenges to the hospitality industry, leading to a sharp decline in tourism and revenue. Despite the adversity, Nam Nghi implemented risk management practices successfully and displayed resilience and adaptability. Through rigorous cost minimization, strategic facility upgrades and targeted marketing efforts, Nam Nghi managed to navigate the crisis and gradually rebuild its business as travel restrictions eased. As the industry began to show signs of recovery, the general manager faced new challenges in restoring the resort’s prepandemic vitality. The challenge remained of understanding changing consumer values and market dynamics.

Abstract
Purpose
This research aims to extend the research on humorous leadership and the hospitality industry by using the theoretical framework of affective events theory (AET). This research aims to close this gap by recognizing that leaders' humor may inspire pro-social motivation in tourism workers and can harness the ability of employees to offer innovative ideas. The effect of leaders' humor on employees’ pro-social motivation is moderated by the personal need for structure (PNS).
Design/methodology/approach
A multi-source time-lagged design was employed in this research. The researchers used survey instruments to collect data from frontline employees and their immediate supervisors working in Pakistan’s two- to five-star hotels. The current study considers 279 useable responses and tested them through Hayes process macros.
Findings
Results show that humorous leadership has a significant direct impact on the innovative work behavior (IWB) of hotel employees. Pro-social motivation significantly mediates the relationship between humorous leadership and IWB. Further, the PNS significantly buffers the relationship between humorous leadership and pro-social motivation.
Practical implications
Findings are vital for hotel managers to adopt a more flexible leadership style to promote the pro-social motivation and IWBs of hotel employees.
Originality/value
This is one of the first studies to use pro-social motivation to explain the relationship between humorous leadership and creative work behaviors. Employees' individual needs for structure have also been utilized as a novel boundary condition. The results are essential for hotel managers to adopt a more adaptable leadership style to encourage the staff’s pro-social motivation and creative work behaviors.

Purpose
This study aims to examine the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption on job insecurity and its subsequent effect on turnover intentions within the hotel industry. It investigated how AI-induced job insecurity affects the likelihood of employees considering leaving their current hotel jobs for other hotels or for opportunities outside the hotel sector, mediated by feelings of job stress and insecurity.
Design/methodology/approach
Quantitative data analysis used 259 responses from frontline hotel employees. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to explore the factor structure and assess model fit indices. Structural equation modeling was then applied to test the hypotheses.
Findings
Findings reveal that AI awareness has a positive impact on job stress and insecurity. Moreover, job insecurity is found to positively affect turnover intentions, with a notably stronger effect observed for turnover intentions toward non-hotel companies. Additionally, the influence of social capital as a moderator on the relationship between job insecurity and turnover intention varies depending on the specific dimensions of turnover intention.
Research limitations/implications
This study contributes to enhancing both theoretical frameworks and empirical insights into turnover dynamics within the hotel sector. However, future research should take into account employees’ positions, roles, organizations and career levels by examining these factors in relation to technology awareness, job stress, job insecurity and turnover intention.
Originality/value
This study initially focuses on the phenomenon of dynamic turnover issues within the hospitality sector, offering empirical and practical perspectives on effectively integrating new technologies and managing human resources amidst the automation and AI era.

本研究探讨了人工智能(AI)应用对酒店业工作不安全感的影响, 以及其对员工流失意向的后续影响。研究调查了AI引发的工作不安全感如何通过工作压力和不安全感的感受影响员工考虑离开当前酒店工作、转投其他酒店或者寻求酒店行业外的机会。
研究方法
本研究采用了259名一线酒店员工的定量数据分析。采用验证性因子分析(CFA)探索因子结构并评估模型拟合指标。随后, 应用结构方程模型(SEM)来检验假设。
研究发现
研究结果显示, AI意识对工作压力和不安全感有积极影响。此外, 工作不安全感被发现对员工流失意向产生正向影响, 尤其是对转投非酒店公司的流失意向影响更为显著。此外, 社会资本作为调节变量对工作不安全感与流失意向之间的关系的影响取决于流失意向的具体维度。
研究局限性
本研究有助于加强酒店业人才流失动态的理论框架和实证见解。然而, 未来研究应考虑员工的职位、角色、组织和职业水平, 通过研究这些因素与技术意识、工作压力、工作不安全感和流失意向之间的关系。

Abstract
Purpose
The main aim of the present research is to investigate the role of sense of calling (SOC) in the relationships between human resource practices (HRP), turnover intention (TI) and employee satisfaction (ES) in the hotel industry. Moreover, it also examines whether the relationships between these variables are different for city and resort hotel employees.
Design/methodology/approach
Quantitative research was employed to test the proposed hypotheses, and the survey technique was used to collect data. The participants of the research consist of 432 hotel employees who work in Antalya, Turkey. The hypotheses were tested using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS–SEM) analyses.
Findings
The results of the analysis have shown that SOC significantly impacts the ES and TI, and HRP could be a new antecedent of SOC. On the other hand, while ES is positively affected by HRP, the SOC has a moderating role in the relationship between these variables.
Practical implications
Hotel authorities' understanding of the SOC’s role in employee attitudes and behavior would be a significant factor not only in retaining them but also in reducing employee turnover. They should consider increasing employees' SOC by focusing on HRP.
Originality/value
Besides being one of the few studies that have discussed SOC in the hospitality literature, the current study also contributes by examining the role of SOC in the relationships between HRP, ES and TI. It also adds value to the calling literature by revealing whether the relationship between these variables differs for city and resort hotel employees.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper investigates the consequences of job insecurity among hotel employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were obtained from the employees of two five-star chain hotels in Turkey. The study hypotheses were tested via structural equation modeling.
Findings
The research findings demonstrate that job insecurity exacerbates job tension. Job tension erodes employees’ trust in organization and aggravates their propensity to leave work early and be late for work. As hypothesized, job tension mediates the effect of job insecurity on organizational trust and the abovementioned outcomes.
Originality/value
This study adds to the hospitality literature by assessing the interrelationships of job insecurity, job tension, organizational trust and nonattendance intentions.

Abstract
Purpose
Green HRM practices in the hospitality sector are now receiving growing interest. However, the extent to which these practices contribute towards employee non-green workplace outcomes remains largely unknown. This study explores the relationships among green HRM practices, happiness at work, employee resilience, and feedback-seeking behaviour.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs two-wave data from a sample of 306 five-star hotel employees in India. Using partial least square-structural equation modelling, the relationships are tested.
Findings
The study’s results demonstrate that green HRM practices positively impact happiness at work, employee resilience, and feedback-seeking behaviour. Additionally, the relationship between green HRM practices and feedback-seeking behaviour and employee resilience is mediated by happiness at work.
Research limitations/implications
Drawing on the Job Demands-Resources Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Broaden and Build theory, this paper proposes that green HRM practices can contribute to happiness at work, employee resilience, and feedback-seeking behaviour.
Practical implications
To establish a positive connection between green HRM practices and employee outcomes, organizations must recognize the vital role played by happiness at work as a mediator. This means that organizations must implement green HRM practices and ensure their positive impact on employee happiness at work.
Originality/value
The originality of this research lies in its holistic approach to green HRM outcomes, suggesting that the benefits of these practices extend beyond environmental impacts to influence the psychological and behavioural dimensions of employees.
