Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present theoretical investigation into two corporate social responsibility (CSR) models proposed by Schwartz and Carroll (2003, 2008).
Design/methodology/approach
A descriptive study was conducted using a quantitative approach with 200 visitors. Data analysis involved, first, a factor analysis and, subsequently, a canonical analysis.
Findings
The results reveal that there is indeed the characteristic of convergence on the CSR dimensions, as well as confirm the correlation between the two models.
Research limitations/implications
This is a single case study wherein data cannot be generalized and there is a lack, so far, of a specific measure scale for the VBA (value, balance and accountability) model.
Practical implications
The results can contribute to studies on the development of CSR scales directed toward consumers, particularly tourist companies in emerging countries, as well as a guidance for managers in planning socially responsible actions and achieving legitimacy of their consumers.
Originality/value
Studies on CSR from customers’ standpoint are still scarce in developing countries, and the existing ones do not use reliable measure scales, based on theoretical models and adapted to the features of this audience. The present paper helps this discussion by considering the perspective of an emerging market for the first time.

Abstract
Purpose
Successful performance and execution of construction projects depend highly on a good project control system capable of tracking and reporting project status on a desired time interval. The purpose of this paper is to propose such a control system by integrating spreadsheet and Visual Basic for Application to produce a customized tracking system for Pipeline Relocation Programs under Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contracts.
Design/methodology/approach
The project status reporting system (PSRS) proposed here was developed to produce a single page summary report that would include scope information, financial status, descriptive status updates and top-level task schedules. This information is retrieved from various sources and transformed further utilizing specific formulas and algorithm needed to compute the budget and schedule status of the pipe relocation project. A practical case study is used to demonstrate its unique application.
Findings
The system has successfully integrated project finance and schedule information into a central control hub. Financial and schedule performance of a project is tracked and monitored by the PSRS automatically.
Originality/value
The proposed system utilizes the powerful computing capability of MS Excel and the user-friendly VBA programming tool to customize the reporting needs of a project and program environment. The proposed system, whose functionality has been validated by the intended users, tries to achieve a balance between simplicity, accuracy and effectiveness for the flow of information at a much lower cost compared to the other readily available project control software.

In this study, a tool has been designed and developed for learning about the concept of lag order within a dynamic model, which can be used in any teaching classes on statistics and financial data computation. To show a solution for a complex and multi-step process of finding the optimal lag order for multiple variables data series based on an information criterion a module using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Microsoft Excel (MS Excel) is being developed. This module can be used for estimating a multivariate dynamic model as well as determining the optimal lag order of such a model.

Abstract
Purpose
Scholarly discourses regarding heritage values for sustainable heritage management abound in heritage literature but appear elitist as they tend to exclude the perspectives of the people at the lower echelons of society. The study explored the values ascribed to a global heritage monument by the people living around a global heritage site in Ghana and the implications of their perceptual values for sustainable heritage management.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used the qualitative design. It was guided by Costin’s heritage values, community attachment theory and values-based approach to heritage management. Data was gathered from the local people living close to the heritage site, and the staff of Museums and Monuments Board at the heritage site. Data were gathered through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews and analysed using the thematic approach and most significant stories.
Findings
The results revealed that the local people were aware of the economic, aesthetic, historic, symbolic and informational values of the heritage monument but showed little attachment to the monument. The main reasons for the low attachment were the limited opportunity for them to participate in the management of the monument, and the limited opportunity for direct economic benefits from the heritage asset.
Research limitations/implications
A comprehensive understanding of heritage monument management that reflects the perspectives and values of the local people is imperative.
Practical implications
United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and Ghana Museums and Monuments Board could consider a more community-inclusive heritage management framework that takes cognizance of local values and perspectives to ensure sustainable heritage management and development.
Social implications
The values and perspectives of the local community matter in heritage management. The heritage authorities need to engage more with the community people and educate them on the best practices regarding the sustainable management of World Heritage Sites.
Originality/value
This paper argues that the management of global heritage sites should not be elitist in orientation and character. It should respect the principle of community participation for inclusive development.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm to harvest user specified information on finance portals and compile it into machine‐readable datasets for quantitative analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
The Visual Basic macro language in Microsoft Excel is applied to develop code that is not constrained by the single‐query function of Excel. The core of the algorithm is built around the splitting of the URL connector line and the placement of a continuously updating variable into which are looped as many tickers as there are in the input list. The output is then written to non‐overlapping cells.
Findings
Numerical information placed on major finance websites can be harvested into structured machine‐readable datasets by applying this algorithm.
Research limitations/implications
One significant change in Microsoft Excel 2007 is that the worksheet is expanded from 224 to 234 cells, or to be more specific, from 256 (IV) columns × 65,536 rows (28 × 216) to 16,384 (XFD) × 1,048,576 (214 × 220). These new limits while allowing for a larger number of tickers, still constrain a single worksheet to 16,384 columns. For five fields per ticker that translates into roughly 3,200 ticker symbols.
Practical implications
The algorithm extends user accessibility to websites that do not provide the facility of simultaneous downloading of information on multiple stock tickers. Furthermore, the procedure automates the downloading of multiple pieces of information (fields) and entire tables per ticker (record).
Originality/value
An exhaustive literature search did not find any paper that discusses a multiple ticker algorithm for web harvesting.

Purpose
This paper aims to describe three utility tools developed at Texas A&M University Libraries, which were designed for quick access and search of the Voyager OPAC and the Voyager clients.
Design/methodology/approach
The Voyager Canned Search Generator provides content creators with an automatic way to generate persistent links to catalog searches. Quick‐Cat is an OPAC shortcut search tool. It allows users to highlight bibliographic data, including authors, titles, ISBN numbers, or ISSN numbers on any web site and immediately search their own library catalog, with just one click. Designed to assist in the EBSCONET serials renewal, an Excel VBA Macro provides an easy gateway from the renewal list to the Voyager Acquisitions and Cataloging clients, the EBSCONET web site, and the library's SFX system.
Findings
The three tools fulfilled their design goals. Users were satisfied with them and they improved productivity. With innovative ideas, some technical know‐how, and a good understanding of the issues librarians can turn themselves into developers of useful tools. They could come up with small, yet effective solutions by leveraging the existing system infrastructure, and combining or mixing available components. The paper discusses development issues, benefits, drawbacks and user feedback.
Originality/value
The paper provides useful information on developing utility tools for quick access and search of Voyager OPAC and the Voyager clients.

Abstract
Purpose
Traditional procedures in flat pattern design of aircraft sheet metal parts are generally based on technicians' personal idea and experiences which can cause unwanted inconsistency and errors. The main objective of this paper is to present an automated system for decreasing the time and increasing the accuracy in providing templates used in aircraft sheet metal parts manufacturing.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper discusses the software (Developer) which is able to receive 2D drawing of a part and create the flat pattern template after applying the necessary changes. The system is also capable of supplying other components of sheet metal part template such as support, tooling hole, and lightening hole. AutoLISP has been used as a tool for internal access to a commercial software such as AutoCAD. An interface has been written by Visual Basic for Application (VBA) to enable the user easily to apply the subroutines related to the software system.
Findings
Several algorithms have been developed and the necessary subroutines have been written in an integrated user‐friendly package. To clarify the process and its application, an application example is demonstrated.
Originality/value
The paper can provide automatically components that are not originally provided in other commercial software. It also has the ability to calculate spring‐back and provide unfold drawing. The known standard templates can also be created.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present a new framework for designing and implementing simple but effective advanced planning and scheduling (APS) systems in glass container industry by means of spreadsheets.
Design/methodology/approach
The conceptual framework for APS system design is developed by integrating principles of end-user computing and mixed-integer programming (MIP). This framework comprises the APS implementation and its integration with enterprise resource planning systems. Such a proposal is applied in a real-world glass bottle manufacturer and its performance assessment is carried out by using metrics of the well-known supply chain operations reference (SCOR) model.
Findings
The case study shows that the framework application can improve the responsiveness of glass container supply chain (SC) as well as reduce significantly SC planning costs. A further assessment of the end-user computing satisfaction highlights the general acceptance of the framework.
Practical implications
The proposed framework can assist glass industry managers and practitioners to solve their complex production planning problem since custom solutions are not available for this sector. Another important implication is the possible generalization of the framework given that MIP models for production planning are currently available in the literature for different industries.
Originality/value
On the one hand, the new framework successfully integrates concepts of end-user computing and MIP bridging the gap between theory of aforementioned areas and their practical applications. On the other hand, the paper contributes to the scarce literature on performance evaluation of APS systems and their impact on production system performance. The novel APS gain analysis based on SCOR metrics ensures that the system potential benefits are aligned with the modern concepts of supply chain management.
