Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of cathodic charging and corrosion behavior of Ti‐48Al‐2Cr‐2Nb alloy in hydrochloric acid solutions.
Design/methodology/approach
TiAl alloy specimens of thickness 0.5 mm were cathodically charged in 0.1 M HCl solution at room temperature. The prominent current densities selected for this investigation were 25 and 50 mA cm−2 for durations of 24‐120 h. The change in weight of the specimen after charging was measured by a microbalance with an accuracy of ±1 μg.
Findings
The nature of the specimen surfaces was characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS). XRD revealed the phase transformation from microcrystalline to nano‐crystalline, particularly after high charging times (120 h) and high current density (50 mA cm−2). AES and EDS further assessed the compositional fluctuations on both cathodically charged and potentiodynamically polarized specimens. Surface corrosion leading to the generation of microcracks throughout the surface region was observed by SEM. Cathodic charging and the polarization process were responsible for embrittlement and pitting. Decreases in both weight and Vickers hardness values with an increase in charging time revealed that surface erosion depended strongly upon charging density.
Originality/value
The results presented in this work shed light on the role of alloying elements the passive behavior and their implications on their stability in hydrochloric acid environments.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the impact of carbon neutral announcements on “stock market value” of publicly listed companies in China.
Design/methodology/approach
The event study approach is adopted. Market, market-adjusted, Carhart four-factor model and a cross-sectional regression model are employed to examine the impacts of carbon neutral announcements on “stock market value” of Chinese companies based on data from 188 carbon neutral announcements.
Findings
Carbon neutral announcements positively impact Chinese shareholder value. Carbon neutral announcements at the strategic level have a more positive and significant impact on Chinese stock market value. Innovative carbon neutral announcements do not significantly cause Chinese stock market reactions. Companies have more positive and significant stock market reactions when the companies make carbon neutral announcements that reflect high supply chain network resilience and heterogeneity and strong supply chain network relationships.
Practical implications
The findings uncover the business value of carbon neutral activities and provide operations managers in developing countries insights into how to improve enterprises' market value by actively implementing carbon neutral activities.
Originality/value
This paper is the first trial to apply an event study to examine the relationship between carbon neutral announcements and Chinese stock market value from the perspective of announcement level and type and supply chain networks. This paper introduces corporate reputation theory and enriches the application of corporate reputation theory in the field of low-carbon environmental protections and supply chains.

Abstract
Volumes 70 and 71 of Research in the Sociology of Organizations combine to comprise cutting edge theory and empirical scholarship at the interface of practice and institution in organization studies. As we highlight, this interface has spurred particularly generative conversations with many open questions, and much to explore. We provide a review of scholarly developments in practice theory and organizational institutionalism that have given rise to this interest in building a bridge between scholarly communities. As signaled by recent efforts to construct a practice-driven institutionalism, we highlight how connecting practice theory with the institutional logics perspective provides a particularly attractive focal point for scholarship at this interface due to a variety of shared ontological and epistemological commitments, including the constitution of actors and their behavior. Collectively, the papers assembled unlock exciting opportunities to connect distinct, but related scholarly communities on practice and institution, seeding scholarship that can advance our understanding of organizational and societal dynamics.

Abstract
Purpose
A new cutting tool is always well-defined and sharp at the onset of the metal cutting process and gradually losses these properties as the machining process advances. Similarly, at the beginning of the machining process, amplitude of tool vibrations is considerably low and it increases gradually and peaks at the end of the service period of the cutting tool while machining. It is significant to provide a corresponding real-time varying damping to control this chatter, which directly influences accuracy and quality of productivity. This paper aims to review the literature related to the application of smart fluid to control vibration in metal cutting and also focused on the challenges involved in the implementation of active control system during machining process.
Design/methodology/approach
Smart dampers, which are used as semi-active and active dampers in metal cutting, were reviewed and the research studies carried out in the field of the magnetorheological (MR) damper were concentrated. In smart materials, MR fluids possess some disadvantages because of their sedimentation of iron particles, leakage and slow response time. To overcome these drawbacks, new MR materials such as MR foam, MR elastomers, MR gels and MR plastomers have been recommended and suggested. This review intents to throw light into available literature which exclusively deals with controlling chatter in metal cutting with the help of MR damping methods.
Findings
Using an MR damper popularly known for its semi-active damping characteristics is very adaptable and flexible in controlling chatter by providing damping to real-time amplitudes of tool vibration. In the past, many researchers have attempted to implement MR damper in metal cutting to control vibration and were successful. Various methods with the help of MR fluid are illustrated.
Research limitations/implications
A new cutting tool is always well-defined and sharp at the onset of metal cutting process and gradually losses these properties as the machining process advances. Similarly, at the beginning of the machining process, amplitude of tool vibrations is considerably low and it increases gradually and peaks at the end of service period of cutting tool while machining. Application of MR damper along with the working methodology in metal cutting is presented, challenges met are analyzed and a scope for development is reviewed.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine two alternative consumer behavioural intention models that have been developed from the marketing and information systems disciplines in a service environment. Specifically, it reports an empirical assessment of the two non-nested structural models in the context of Australian restaurant industry.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a web-based survey by an online research organization and structural equation modelling with AMOS was used to compare the two non-nested behavioural intention models.
Findings
This study found that the second model that incorporates expectation-confirmation theory outperformed the first model in terms of model fit with the empirical data.
Practical implications
The findings of this study provide service managers with important insights into the appropriate design of service delivery systems to increase consumer satisfaction which, in turn, leads to more positive behavioural intentions. Moreover, the restaurant research setting means that marketing managers in the growing tourism and hospitality industry should benefit from the study findings.
Originality/value
This study synthesized two consumer behavioural intention models from different disciplines and provided an approach to the empirical comparison of the non-nested structural models.
