Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to prepare a novel nano magnetic grease with favorable lubricating performance; to contrast the tribology performance of the magnetic grease with the original grease, and to find the lubricating mechanism of the magnetic grease.

Design/methodology/approach

The nano Fe3O4 magnetic fluids are added into the general urea grease to synthesize the nano magnetic grease. Tribology performance tests of the magnetic grease and the original grease are contrasted on a MMW‐1 four‐ball tester. Based on three kinds of effects caused by the nano magnetic fluids, the lubricating mechanism of the magnetic grease is discussed.

Findings

Nano magnetic grease with favorable lubricating performance can be synthesized by adding the nano Fe3O4 magnetic fluids into the general urea grease. The nano magnetic grease has better lubricating performance and more steady bearing capability than the original grease, and is especially available for the lubricating of equipment with high speed and heavy load. The performance improvement of the magnetic grease is owing to the interactions of three kinds of effects as follows: the viscosity increasing effect, the micro‐rolling effect, and the friction weakening effect, which are all caused by the nano magnetic fluids added into the grease.

Originality/value

The paper documents that the nano Fe3O4 magnetic fluids added into the urea grease to synthesize a novel nano magnetic grease has been proved to have quite favorable lubricating performance by the tribology experiments, and the lubricating mechanism of the magnetic grease is also discussed.

Abstract

Purpose

This study analyzed the interdisciplinary characteristics of Chinese research studies in library and information science (LIS) measured by knowledge elements extracted through the Lexicon-LSTM model.

Design/methodology/approach

Eight research themes were selected for experiment, with a large-scale (N = 11,625) dataset of research papers from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database constructed. And it is complemented with multiple corpora. Knowledge elements were extracted through a Lexicon-LSTM model. A subject knowledge graph is constructed to support the searching and classification of knowledge elements. An interdisciplinary-weighted average citation index space was constructed for measuring the interdisciplinary characteristics and contributions based on knowledge elements.

Findings

The empirical research shows that the Lexicon-LSTM model has superiority in the accuracy of extracting knowledge elements. In the field of LIS, the interdisciplinary diversity indicator showed an upward trend from 2011 to 2021, while the disciplinary balance and difference indicators showed a downward trend. The knowledge elements of theory and methodology could be used to detect and measure the interdisciplinary characteristics and contributions.

Originality/value

The extraction of knowledge elements facilitates the discovery of semantic information embedded in academic papers. The knowledge elements were proved feasible for measuring the interdisciplinary characteristics and exploring the changes in the time sequence, which helps for overview the state of the arts and future development trend of the interdisciplinary of research theme in LIS.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to present a comprehensive review of the fundamental concepts and terminologies pertaining to different types of aluminium metal matrix composites, their joining techniques and challenges, friction stir welding (FSW) process, post-welding characterizations and basic control theory of FSW, followed by the discussions on the research reports in these areas.

Design/methodology/approach

Joining of aluminium metal matrix composites (Al-MMC) poses many challenges. These materials have their demanding applications in versatile domains, and hence it is essential to understand their weldability and material characteristics. FSW is a feasible choice for joining of Al-MMC over the fusion welding because of the formation of narrow heat affected zone and minimizing the formation of intermetallic compounds at weld interface. The goal in FSW is to generate enough thermal energy by friction between the workpiece and rotating tool. Heat energy is generated by mechanical interaction because of the difference in velocity between the workpiece and rotating tool. In the present work, a detailed survey is done on the above topics and an organised conceptual context is presented. A complete discussion on significance of FSW process parameters, control schemes, parameter optimization and weld quality monitoring are presented, along with the analysis on relation between the interdependent parameters.

Findings

Results from the study present the research gaps in the FSW studies for joining of the aluminium-based metal matrix composites, and they highlight further scope of studies pertaining to this domain.

Originality/value

It is observed that the survey done on FSW of Al-MMCs and their control theory give an insight into the fundamental concepts pertaining to this research area to enhance interdisciplinary technology exploration.

Abstract

Purpose

The study aims to find out the university students' health information service needs in post-COVID-19 age and then consider how to do the health information services well and promote it in further work.

Design/methodology/approach

This study uses Kano model to design a questionnaire about university students' health information service needs from academic library and investigates 243 students from seven universities in China. The data generated were analyzed using a statistical tool and presented in tables.

Findings

The results show the students' different requirements level of health information services from academic library as must-be requirements, one-dimensional requirements, attractive quality attributes and indifferent quality in post-COVID-19 age.

Research limitations/implications

The questionnaire design and the scale of respondents have limitation, such as only focus on Chinese university, have not characteristically research on different group of students. It could optimize to cover more worldwide university students and refer to different groups of students' needs in further research.

Originality/value

The paper expands and deepens the theory about university library health information service and provides a practical reference and proposes some suggestions for academic libraries on how to carry out health information services and give the social health institutions inspiration on how to promote the health services, especially in post-COVID-19 age.
