Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) incorporating spatiotemporal dispersion and other dispersive effects. The goal is to derive various soliton solutions, including bright, dark, singular, periodic and exponential solitons, to enhance the understanding of soliton propagation dynamics in nonlinear metamaterials (MMs) and contribute new findings to the field of nonlinear optics.
Design/methodology/approach
The research uses a range of powerful mathematical approaches to solve the NLS. The proposed methodologies are applied systematically to derive a variety of optical soliton solutions, each demonstrating unique optical behaviors and characteristics. The approach ensures that both the theoretical framework and practical implications of the solutions are thoroughly explored.
Findings
The study successfully derives several types of soliton solutions using the aforementioned mathematical approaches. Key findings include bright optical envelope solitons, dark optical envelope solitons, periodic solutions, singular solutions and exponential solutions. These results offer new insights into the behavior of ultrashort solitons in nonlinear MMs, potentially aiding further research and applications in nonlinear wave studies.
Originality/value
This study makes an original contribution to nonlinear optics by deriving new soliton solutions for the NLS with spatiotemporal dispersion. The diversity of solutions, including bright, dark, periodic, singular and exponential solitons, adds substantial value to the existing body of knowledge. The use of distinct and reliable methodologies to obtain these solutions underscores the novelty and potential applications of the research in advancing optical technologies. The originality lies in the novel approaches used to obtain these diverse soliton solutions and their potential impact on the study and application of nonlinear waves in MMs.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the new (3 + 1)-dimensional integrable fourth-order nonlinear equation which is used to model the shallow water waves.
Design/methodology/approach
By means of the Cole–Hopf transform, the bilinear form of the studied equation is extracted. Then the ansatz function method combined with the symbolic computation is implemented to construct the breather, multiwave and the interaction wave solutions. In addition, the subequation method tis also used to search for the diverse travelling wave solutions.
Findings
The breather, multiwave and the interaction wave solutions and other wave solutions like the singular periodic wave structure and dark wave structure are obtained. To the author’s knowledge, the solutions obtained are all new and have never been reported before.
Originality/value
The solutions obtained in this work have never appeared in other literature and can be regarded as an extension of the solutions for the new (3 + 1)-dimensional integrable fourth-order nonlinear equation.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate two newly developed (3 + 1)-dimensional Kairat-II and Kairat-X equations that illustrate relations with the differential geometry of curves and equivalence aspects.
Design/methodology/approach
The Painlevé analysis confirms the complete integrability of both Kairat-II and Kairat-X equations.
Findings
This study explores multiple soliton solutions for the two examined models. Moreover, the author showed that only Kairat-X give lump solutions and breather wave solutions.
Research limitations/implications
The Hirota’s bilinear algorithm is used to furnish a variety of solitonic solutions with useful physical structures.
Practical implications
This study also furnishes a variety of numerous periodic solutions, kink solutions and singular solutions for Kairat-II equation. In addition, lump solutions and breather wave solutions were achieved from Kairat-X model.
Social implications
The work formally furnishes algorithms for studying newly constructed systems that examine plasma physics, optical communications, oceans and seas and the differential geometry of curves, among others.
Originality/value
This paper presents an original work that presents two newly developed Painlev\'{e} integrable models with insightful findings.

Abstract
Purpose
The current analysis produces the fractional sample of non-Newtonian Casson and Williamson boundary layer flow considering the heat flux and the slip velocity. An extended sheet with a nonuniform thickness causes the steady boundary layer flow’s temperature and velocity fields. Our purpose in this research is to use Akbari Ganji method (AGM) to solve equations and compare the accuracy of this method with the spectral collocation method.
Design/methodology/approach
The trial polynomials that will be utilized to carry out the AGM are then used to solve the nonlinear governing system of the PDEs, which has been transformed into a nonlinear collection of linked ODEs.
Findings
The profile of temperature and dimensionless velocity for different parameters were displayed graphically. Also, the effect of two different parameters simultaneously on the temperature is displayed in three dimensions. The results demonstrate that the skin-friction coefficient rises with growing magnetic numbers, whereas the Casson and the local Williamson parameters show reverse manners.
Originality/value
Moreover, the usefulness and precision of the presented approach are pleasing, as can be seen by comparing the results with previous research. Also, the calculated solutions utilizing the provided procedure were physically sufficient and precise.
