Abstract
Cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) has a developing evidence base for working with complex cases including personality disorder. This article describes the use of CAT with a single 25‐year‐old male patient with severe personality difficulties who was residing in a medium secure hospital. It is suggested that, in treatment of severe personality difficulties, rather than aiming at ‘cure’, therapy may have a more modest goal such as movement from personality‐disordered functioning to adequate or optimal personality functioning.

It has often been said that a great part of the strength of Aslib lies in the fact that it brings together those whose experience has been gained in many widely differing fields but who have a common interest in the means by which information may be collected and disseminated to the greatest advantage. Lists of its members have, therefore, a more than ordinary value since they present, in miniature, a cross‐section of institutions and individuals who share this special interest.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the relational impact of using win-win or win-lose negotiation strategies within different types of buyer-supplier relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
A multi-method approach is used. Qualitative interviews with supply chain managers reveal that relationship-specific assets and cooperation are important relational factors in buyer-supplier negotiations. Framing interview insights within the social exchange theory (SET), hypotheses are tested using a scenario-based behavioral experiment.
Findings
Experimental results suggest that win-lose negotiators decrease their negotiating partner’s commitment of relationship-specific assets and levels of cooperation. In addition, the use of a win-lose negotiation strategy reduces levels of relationship-specific assets and cooperation more in highly interdependent buyer-supplier relationships than relationships that are not as close.
Research limitations/implications
Buyer-supplier relationships are complex interactions. Negotiation strategy choice decisions can have long-term effects on the overall relationship. As demonstrated in this study, previous research focusing on one side “winning” a negotiation as a measure of success has oversimplified this complex phenomenon.
Practical implications
The use of a win-lose negotiation strategy can have a negative impact on relational outcomes like cooperation and relationship-specific assets. For companies interested in developing strong supply chain relationships, buyer and suppliers should choose their negotiation strategy carefully as the relational impact extends beyond the single negotiation encounter.
Originality/value
Previous research predominantly advocates for the use of a win-win negotiation strategy within interdependent relationships. This research offers evidence that the use of a win-lose strategy does have a long-term relational impact.

Abstract
Purpose
As a mechanism to make a company's strategies, actions and achievements more transparent, sustainability reporting (SR) enables companies to communicate performance, develop a reputation for responsible behaviour and gain competitive advantage, yet it remains largely voluntary. A scant evidence base suggests that the construction sector lags behind other industries on SR; the purpose of this paper is to clarify the current status and define a research framework for future development of SR in construction.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper examines standards for disclosure, scope and content vehicles for disclosure, transparency and assurance, voluntary vs mandatory reporting, and integrated reporting, through a review of literature, reports and standards.
Findings
SR can drive change, offer competitive advantage and reputational capital, but this is contested ground, academically. A critical examination of SR in construction contributes to the debate by identifying challenges around data durability, stakeholder engagement, reputation management and the nature of the sector. A novel framework, research questions and recommendations are presented.
Research limitations/implications
This study is based on literature, standards and guidance documents, so has not yet been subject to scrutiny via empirical research; recommendations for such are, however, outlined clearly within the paper.
Originality/value
Construction companies have to balance commercial drivers with demands for high‐profile sustainable buildings and enhanced corporate sustainability; this is a generally under‐researched area. This is the first paper to argue that SR offers a new lens on corporate sustainability in construction and considerable scope for novel research.
