Abstract

Purpose

To react quickly and to be flexible to respond to environmental uncertainty, working in teams is preferable. However, leadership must be decentralised for effective team performance. This paper aims to examine the impact of shared leadership on team performance through team reflexivity with task complexity.

Design/methodology/approach

To test the hypothesised relationships, a quantitative research design with purposive sampling technique was used. Data were gathered from employees working in teams. A total of 351 valid responses were analysed via SPSS PROCESS macro.

Findings

The findings signify that shared leadership positively impacts team reflexivity, which, in turn, has a significant impact on team performance. Results also revealed that team reflexivity strongly affects team performance in the presence of shared leadership and complex tasks.

Originality/value

Research related to effective team performance is scarce. Similarly, a review of a recently published article revealed that team reflexivity could work as a mediating mechanism in the relationship between shared leadership and effective team performance. Moreover, the concept of task complexity in the existing literature is scattered and needs to be integrated.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate the irreversibility associated with the Fe3O4–Co/kerosene hybrid-nanofluid past a wedge with nonlinear radiation and heat source.

Design/methodology/approach

This study reports the numerical analysis of the hybrid nanofluid model under the implications of the heat source and magnetic field over a static and moving wedge with slips. The second law of thermodynamics is applied with nonlinear thermal radiation. The system that comprises differential equations of partial derivatives is remodeled into the system of differential equations via similarity transformations and then solved through the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg with shooting technique. The physical parameters, which emerges from the derived system, are discussed in graphical formats. Excellent proficiency in the numerical process is analyzed by comparing the results with available literature in limiting scenarios.

Findings

The significant outcomes of the current investigation are that the velocity field uplifts for higher velocity slip and magnetic strength. Further, the heat transfer rate is reduced with the incremental values of the Eckert number, while it uplifts with thermal slip and radiation parameters. An increase in Brinkmann’s number uplifts the entropy generation rate, while that peters out the Bejan number. The results of this study are of importance involving in the assessment of the effect of some important design parameters on heat transfer and, consequently, on the optimization of industrial processes.

Originality/value

This study is original work that reports the hybrid nanofluid model of Fe3O4–Co/kerosene.

Abstract

Purpose

The paper examines the influence of green attitude of HR managers on the other key HRM variables in an organizational context. Specifically, the objective of the paper was to determine if HR managers’ green attitude influences the green behavior of employees in an organization, while accounting for the mediating and moderating effect of contingent variables.

Design/methodology/approach

Data were gathered from 175 human resources managers of Indian hotels using a structured instrument and subjected to partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis, using SmartPLS 3.0 software.

Findings

While the green attitude of human resource managers was found to positively influence the green behavior of employees, it was observed that the extent of green rewards played a mediating role in the relationship. Top management support was found to moderate the relationship between green attitude of human resource managers and green human resource management practices.

Practical implications

The study identifies how green behavior of employees can be improved by focusing primarily on the green attitude of HR managers. Thus, recruiting HR managers with high green orientation, contingent on the exogenous factors mentioned in the study being considered, will result in greater pro-environment employee behavior.

Originality/value

Our unique contribution was viewing greening practices in the organization through the HR managers’ lens, who are critical in implementing green practices in an organization, thus providing novel insights compared to earlier studies in the field.

Abstract

Purpose

This research offered a systematic and comprehensive literature review in analysing current studies on employee ecological behaviour (EEB) strategies and settings to determine various emphasised workplace ecological behaviour areas and contribute a precise mapping for future research.

Design/methodology/approach

This systematic literature review method involved 106 peer-reviewed articles published in reputable academic journals (between 2000 and the first quarter of 2021). This study was confined to a review of empirical papers derived from digital databases encompassing the terms ‘Employee green behaviour’, ‘Green behaviour at workplace’, ‘Employee ecological behaviour’, ‘Employee Pro-environmental behaviour’ and ‘Pro-environmental behaviour at workplace’ in the titles.

Findings

This study identified relevant journal articles (classified as EEB at work) from the current body of knowledge. Notably, much emphasis was identified on EEB over the past two decades. Overall, most studies employing quantitative approaches in both developed and emerging nations. Notably, ecological behaviour application garnered the most significant attention from scholars among the four focus areas in the literature review: (i) EEB concepts, models, or reviews, (ii) EEB application, (iii) EEB determinants and (iv) EEB outcomes.

Practical implications

Significant literature gaps indicate this field to be a relatively novel phenomenon. Thus, rigorous research on the topic proves necessary to develop a holistic understanding of the subject area.

Originality/value

This study expands the current body of knowledge by providing the first comprehensive systematic review on EEB themes, methods, applications, determinants, contextual focus, outcomes and recommending future research agenda.
