The research studies the issues of ensuring the economic sustainability of chemical industry enterprises based on financial and economic management. This chapter explores the theoretical and methodological aspects of appraising the economic stability of industrial enterprises. The authors presented a unique view on the essence of economic stability and clarified the interpretation of the economic sustainability of enterprises from the perspective of the influence of factors of the external and internal environment. The authors devised an innovative approach to appraising the economic stability of industrial enterprises using integral differential equations derived from regression analysis. The advantage of existing methods in the proposed assessment methodology is that it is possible to see the only clear expression of the comprehensive evaluation of weight values by calculating the main internal (quantity of product sales, employee efficiency, material and technical resources, sales worth, and equity) and external factors (social elements, market demand, inflation, variations in exchange rates, infrastructure, regulation of legislation, etc.).

This paper argues that a coordinated network of independent producers is crucial in creating an immersive metaverse. A digital asset layer that is beyond the control of any single counterparty, along with reliable definition and exchange of fungible and non-fungible digital objects, is important for individual digital creative expression to flourish. Non-fungible digital objects are essential in creating an asset layer for a metaverse that approximates the full range of independent human creative expression. The development of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) alongside cryptocurrencies, governed by distributed and transparent control, can create an intermediation layer that is separate from the control of a platform intermediary.

The importance of socially just leadership has been increasingly acknowledged in recent years as integral for tackling issues of disadvantage and inequality across education and schooling systems. However, there are still remaining questions about what these leadership practices look like in the everyday work of school leaders. This chapter draws on a research project to embed Indigenous perspectives in schools as an example of socially just leadership. The links between Indigenous communities and schools are a key focus area for improving educational outcomes for Indigenous students. This project sought to bring Indigenous community members into classrooms in six schools in New South Wales, Australia. Community members were recruited to work with teachers as co-constructors of learning activities that explicitly value and work with Indigenous perspectives. This chapter outlines the positive outcomes from this project as well as challenges faced by schools, teachers, principals, and community members as part of this culturally responsive work. The practices of community members, teachers, and principals are theorized using the notion of culturally responsive leadership. The chapter argues for an approach to leadership that is grounded in culturally responsive understandings to improve the educational outcomes and opportunities for Indigenous students and the cultural understanding and awareness of non-Indigenous students, to better promote reconciliation. This chapter provides a concrete example of powerful leadership practices that are working towards equity and social justice for their schools and communities. While the cases are specifically from the Australian context, they are relevant for a variety of schooling contexts and leadership practices.

Knowledge of how social movements move, diffuse, and expand collective action events is central to movement scholarship and activist practice. Our purpose is to extend sociological knowledge about how movements (sometimes) diffuse and amplify insurgent actions, that is, how movements move. We extend movement diffusion theory by drawing a conceptual analogue with military theory and practice applied to the case of the organized and highly disciplined nonviolent Nashville civil rights movement in the late 1950s and early 1960s. We emphasize emplacement in a base-mission extension model whereby a movement base is built in a community establishing a social movement school for inculcating discipline and performative training in cadre who engage in insurgent operations extended from that base to outlying events and campaigns. Our data are drawn from secondary sources and semi-structured interviews conducted with participants of the Nashville civil rights movement. The analytic strategy employs a variant of the “extended case method,” where extension is constituted by movement agents following paths from base to outlying campaigns or events. Evidence shows that the Nashville movement established an exemplary local movement base that led to important changes in that city but also spawned traveling movement cadre who moved movement actions in an extensive series of pathways linking the Nashville base to events and campaigns across the southern theater of the civil rights movement. We conclude with theoretical and practical implications.

Increased competition and the constant need for companies to differentiate make markets more competitive and consumers more demanding when making purchasing decisions. Consequently, companies recognized the importance of marketing and economics, which has gradually replaced its transactional practices, focused essentially on a single transaction, with relational practices, in which the customer is considered an integral part of the process. Creating long and profitable relationships has become a business priority and the use of tools such as customer relationship marketing (CRM) has become crucial. With the increasing importance of health and wellness tourism, thermalism has become a very competitive product wanted by tourists who need treatments that are not available in their country due to lack of availability or because they are quite expensive. Since tourism is integrated in the services sector, a set of relational marketing strategies can be applied to establish and maintain relationships with tourists. Therefore, it is important to understand how relational marketing can improve health and wellness tourism. Based on a combination of theoretical and practical research, this chapter explores the dynamic system and mechanism of innovation and development of relational marketing strategies in specific contexts of tourism (i.e. health and wellness tourism) considering cross-border (i.e. Northern Euroregion of Portugal and Galicia). From an interdisciplinary perspective, the chapter presents insights for marketing and tourism (health and well-being) and for the economic development of territories (i.e. cross-border regions).

It is estimated that the largest share of future food fish will come from aquaculture production and that sustainable aquaculture is a precondition to realising this potential. Sustainable aquaculture will also play a key role in achieving several of the targets set out in SDG14. It is now established that most of the aquafeed ingredients used today are not sustainable and cannot support the projected growth of the sector, hence the need for sustainable alternatives. Sustainable aquaculture is multidimensional, therefore, this chapter focuses on sustainable feed ingredient sourcing. The authors explored a group of highly promising emerging novel ingredients known as microbial ingredients (MIs), means of producing them and how they can help achieve sustainable aquaculture and SDG14 targets. Specifically, the chapter narrows down on producing MIs from Norwegian spruce tree hydrolysates using a biotechnological approach and how Foods of Norway, a centre for research-based innovation at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences is leading efforts to produce feed-worthy MIs from industrial and agricultural by-products through biotechnology-based valorisation. MIs such as yeast, fungi, and bacterial meal can support the growth of Atlantic salmon without compromising the health of the fish. Thus, MI has a net positive impact on climate and can help achieve some targets in SDG14 by reducing pressure on marine resources used as fish feed ingredients. Suggestions on how to address current bottlenecks in scaling up MIs have also been provided in the chapter.

For over a decade, fintech has challenged traditional business models and processes in the financial services industry. The ongoing disruption has necessitated the digital transformation of financial institutions (FIs) to remain an integral part of the financial system. This paradigm shift is not merely a technological update. Still, it signifies a cultural and operational rebirth, compelling FIs to embrace innovation, adaptability, and a customer-centric approach in the digital era. Independent of the business model, FIs must become digitally ambidextrous, offer tailored and dynamic customer experiences, support financial inclusion, and promote an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda while leveraging data and remaining compliant. From digitalization to fintegration, the financial services industry's future is deemed to be an exciting and productive one.

Mindfulness-based interventions are on the rise in workplace settings to enhance Well-Being and address work stress. Their popularity is in part due to the fact that they are often assumed to have a net positive impact on both workers’ Well-Being and organizational functioning. However, the majority of workplace mindfulness practice and research focuses on individual-level mindfulness interventions and their associated outcomes, like reduced stress. However, the modern workplace is highly dependent on positive team functioning, and the impact of mindfulness in teams is lesser known. This review differentiates individual mindfulness from team mindfulness and explores how both individual and team mindfulness impact team functioning. The authors review mindfulness and teams’ literature to understand antecedents, correlated mediators, and consequences of mindfulness in team contexts, team processes, and the boundary conditions related to mindfulness outcomes. This review adds to the budding theoretical conversation regarding mindfulness at work and contributes valuable insight into the practical applications of mindfulness in teams.

Despite the concept of regenerative tourism (RT) is still under research, there are recognized attempts to conceptualize RT from different thoughts, paradigms, worldviews and frameworks, even though the integral or alternative paradigms lack a detailed description. Therefore, the goal of this chapter is to overview the current debates on the background of RT, its definitions and its relationship with sustainability and tourism besides exploring the RT paradigms, principles and objectives in extant literature.
