Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the correlation between the dynamic features of the running-in attractor and the wear particle group, so as to characterize the running-in attractor by means of the wear particle group.
Design/methodology/approach
Wear particles are collected in phased wear experiments, and their dynamic features are investigated by the equivalent mean chord length L. Then, the correlation between the equivalent mean chord length L and the correlation dimension D of the running-in attractor is studied.
Findings
In the wear process, the equivalent means chord length L first decreases, then remains steady, and finally increases, this process agrees with the increase, stabilization and decrease of the correlation dimension D. Therefore, the wear particle group has a dynamic nature, which characterizes the formation, stabilization, and disappearance of a running-in attractor. Consequently, the dynamic characteristics and evolution of a running-in attractor can be revealed by the wear particle group.
Originality/value
The intrinsic relationship between the wear particle group and the running-in attractor is proved, and this is advantageous for further revealing the dynamic features of the running-in attractor and identifying the wear states.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore a multi-innovation with forgetting factor-based EKF-SLAM (FMI-EKF-SLAM) algorithm to solve the error increasing problem, caused by the Extended Kalman filtering (EKF) violating the local linear assumption in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for mobile robots because of strong nonlinearity.
Design/methodology/approach
A multi-innovation with forgetting factor-based EKF-SLAM (FMI-EKF-SLAM) algorithm is investigated. At each filtering step, the FMI-EKF-SLAM algorithm expands the single innovation at current step to an extended multi-innovation containing current and previous steps and introduces the forgetting factor to reduce the effect of old innovations.
Findings
The simulation results show that the explored FMI-EKF-SLAM method reduces the state estimation errors, obtains the ideal filtering effect and achieves higher accuracy in positioning and mapping.
Originality/value
The method proposed in this paper improves the positioning accuracy of SLAM and improves the EKF, so that the EKF has higher accuracy and wider application range.

Abstract
In this paper, the problem of two parallel symmetry permeable cracks in functionally graded piezoelectric/piezomagnetic materials subjected to an anti‐plane shear loading is investigated by use the Schmidt method. To make the analysis tractable, it is assumed that the material properties varied exponentially with coordinate vertical to the crack. Through the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of two pairs of dual integral equations, in which the unknown variables were the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces. To solve the dual integral equations, the jumps of the displacements across the crack surfaces were expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Numerical examples are provided to show the effect of the geometry of the interacting crack and the functionally graded parameter upon the stress intensity factors. The relations among the electric filed, the magnetic flux field and the stress field are obtained. The shielding effect of two parallel cracks has been discussed.

Abstract
The uncertainty of the interval variable is represented by interval factor, and the interval variable is described as its mean value multiplied by its interval factor. Based on interval arithmetic rules, an analytical method of interval finite element for uncertain structures but not probabilistic structure or fuzzy structure is presented by combining the interval analysis with finite element method. The static analysis of truss with interval parameters under interval load is studied and the expressions of structural interval displacement response and stress response are deduced. The influences of uncertainty of one of structural parameters or load on the displacement and stress of the structure are examined through examples and some significant conclusions are obtained.

Abstract
Purpose
In light of growing concerns related to the psychological vulnerability during the pandemic, this study aims to examine the impact of fear or trauma of COVID-19 on stress, anxiety and depression among management students. Additionally, the study also explores the possible strategies adopted by professional students to cope with the pandemic situation.
Design/methodology/approach
With an approach to establish a probable concrete relationship between fear with the level of stress, anxiety and depression, the data for the study was collected from 1,408 management students through a structured questionnaire designed in Google Form and administered through WhatsApp. The survey was carried out in the month of July and August 2020 during the lockdown period. Correlation and structural equation modeling have been used to examine the relationship among the test attributes.
Findings
The results from the study discovered that “fear of COVID-19” has a significant and considerable impact on the increased level of anxiety and stress among the professional students, but the observations did not demonstrate a significant influence of the “fear” on “depression.” The responses reveal that students have developed anxiety and felt stressed mostly due to uncertainty in the upcoming academic plans, disturbances in their regular academic routines and concerns about their future careers. Further, the findings have portrayed that students have adopted both protective and avoidance coping strategies to overcome the adverse consequences of the pandemic.
Research limitations/implications
The study gives an insight on the psychological vulnerability of the management students and their capability to overcome such sudden disruptions due to pandemics. This research could thus, serve as a reference to the policymakers, universities and institutions while planning out programs and schemes, which would encourage the aspiring managers to overcome the crisis and prepare themselves to befit the vibrant corporate world.
Originality/value
Several studies exist on the impact of the pandemic on undergraduate students in different universities. However, there are a dearth of literature, which reflects the psychological vulnerability of professional graduates especially management students who are on the verge of starting their professional career.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate dynamic relations among office property price indices of 10 major cities in China for the years 2005–2021.
Design/methodology/approach
Using monthly data, the authors adopt vector error correction modeling and the directed acyclic graph for the characterization of contemporaneous causality among the 10 indices.
Findings
The PC algorithm identifies the causal pattern, and the linear non-Gaussian acyclic model algorithm further determines the causal path from which we perform innovation accounting analysis. Sophisticated price dynamics are found in price adjustment processes following price shocks, which are generally dominated by the top tier of cities.
Originality/value
This suggests that policies on office property prices, in the long run, might need to be planned with particular attention paid to the top tier of cities.

Abstract
Purpose
The paper proposes a research method to verify the perception bias of consumers on the freshness preservation effects of vacuum packaging (VP) and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) chilled pork packages, the influence of “sensory experience” on correcting consumers' perception bias of packaging performance and willingness-to-pay (WTP) enhancement channels.
Design/methodology/approach
Using data from 458 and 188 participants who completed the contingent valuation method (CVM) and auction experiment, respectively, the study aimed to uncover consumers' packing quality perception bias and WTP, and investigated the societal factors that contribute to variations in WTP.
Findings
The CVM experiment revealed that although consumers' high perception bias rate toward MAP to maintain freshness, as compared to lab test results, came along with low WTP premium to cost rate with sensory experience in the auction experiment, the proportion of consumers with quality perception bias decreased from 49.85% to 34.46%, while the WTP premium to cost rate for MAP increased largely by 36.7%. Perceptive embedding has a positive effect on chilled pork packaging WTP, while normative embedding decreases WTP.
Originality/value
The findings emphasize the need of public policies to promote positive consumption attitudes, while whittling the negative consumption norms, to increase the WTP for packaged child pork and promote the chilled pork market formation.

Five papers have been used to give a suitable basis for the reconceptualisation and recontextualisation of the military and militarization in relation to international business.
Findings
Several key tasks are achieved in rephrasing the issues of militarization in relation to international business. A wide national and cultural span is covered.
Originality/value
In developing and assembling this collection of papers claim cannot be laid to have answered issues on militarization, ground has been laid and reference points provided for a much needed wider critical debate.

Abstract
Purpose
The cracking of a reinforced concrete lining has a significant influence on the safety and leakage of pressure tunnels. This study aims to develop, validate and apply a numerical algorithm to simulate the lining cracking process during the water-filling period of pressure tunnels.
Design/methodology/approach
Cracks are preset in all lining elements, and the Mohr−Coulomb criterion with a tension cutoff is used in determining whether a preset crack becomes a real crack. The effects of several important factors such as the water pressure on crack surfaces (WPCS) and the heterogeneity of the lining tensile strength are also considered simultaneously.
Findings
The crack number and width increase gradually with the increase in internal water pressure. However, when the pressure reaches a threshold value, the increase in crack width becomes ambiguous. After the lining cracks, the lining displacement distribution is discontinuous and steel bar stress is not uniform. The measured stress of the steel bar is greatly determined by the position of the stress gauge. The WPCS has a significant influence on the lining cracking mechanism and should not be neglected.
Originality/value
A reliable algorithm for simulating the lining cracking process is presented by which the crack number and width can be determined directly. The numerical results provide an insight into the development law of lining cracks and show that the WPCS significantly affects the cracking mechanism.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of trust in service and structural assurance on the continuance intention of FinTech services, and the roles of technical factors (i.e. situational normality and system quality) and social factors (i.e. herding and subjective norm) in developing trust in service and structural assurance. YuEbao is selected as the subject as it is a representative example of FinTech services in China.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey questionnaire was deployed and a ten-point sliding scale with two-decimal points was applied to improve the accuracy of the questionnaire. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data.
Findings
Trust in service and structural assurance can encourage continuance intention of FinTech service. System quality, situational normality and subjective norm can boost the development of trust in service. Both herding and subjective norm can affect structural assurance significantly.
Research limitations/implications
The study highlights the important roles played by technical factors (i.e. situational normality and system quality) and social factors (i.e. herding and subjective norm) in developing the two levels of trust (i.e. trust in service and structural assurance). It also validates the influences of trust in service and structural assurance on encouraging customers’ continuance intention in the novel context of FinTech.
Practical implications
The findings of this study can be used by practitioners to encourage customers to continue using their FinTech services. To encourage continuance, service providers can improve the quality of their system, design the system to be aligned with customers’ using habits and show customers that their close friends are also using the service.
Originality/value
This study adds to the existing body of trust literature by investigating the direct effects of trust in service and structure assurance on continuance intention and how these two levels of trust are developed from technical and social aspects. It generates interesting insights into customers’ continuance behavior of FinTech services.
