Rhodia Silicones offers a translucent vinyl moldmaking material for prototyping applications. RTV 3040 is a clear, addition cure RTV-2 silicone that enables the molder to visually inspect uncured molds for trapped air or other flaws from the cast resin.

Rhodia Silicones' RTV 3040 is a medium durometer, low viscosity product that will fill molds faster increasing turnaround time. RTV 3040 has good elongation with excellent urethane resistance, high tensile and tear strength. With low shrinkage, RTV 3040 provides closer tolerances of finished cast parts. This translucent moldmaking material will benefit customers in the rapid prototyping market that require inspection of their molds for air bubbles and the ability to see the master while cutting a one piece mold. It is being used in the automotive, toy and other prototyping industries.
