Loctite Corporation, a US affiliate of German-based Henkel KGaA, has announced the acquisition of Power Devices Inc. of Laguna Hills, CA, a supplier of phase change thermal management technology for electronic and electromechanical applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The founder of phase change thermal interface technology, Power Devices Inc. has been in business for more than 16 years producing solutions to many different thermal interface problems. The company's unique patented phase change formulations have become accepted industry standards used in thousands of commercial, industrial, and military applications. A privately held company, Power Devices will retain the same management team post-acquisition. The management team will continue to run the company throughout the integration process and into the future.

According to Stephen Merkel, President of Loctite Americas, "This acquisition will enable Loctite to expand its focus on thermally conductive technology. By combining the strengths of Power Devices and Loctite, two technically diverse organizations, we become a single company with an exceptional focus on the customer, offering the electronics market unequaled technology, service, global presence, and depth of product line. Power Devices brings to Loctite cutting edge thermal management technology that is currently growing at a dramatic rate of 50 percent per year, in large part due to superior thermal properties, ease of application, low cost, and ability to be repaired and reworked."
