China's electronics industry grew by 26.19 percent for the first half of this year

At NEPCON/Microelectronics Shenzhen '98, Ms Lou Jienian, chairman of China National Semiconductor Industry Association, announced that total production value of China's electronics industry during the first half of this year amounted to RMB224.79 billion, registering growth of 26.19 percent compared with the same period in 1997. The corresponding figures for the industry's sales value are RMB139.31 billion and 13.2 percent, with product sales rate of 94.4 percent.

Staged during 8-11 September at the Shenzhen International Exhibition Centre, NEPCON/Microelectronics Shenzhen '98 is sponsored by the Ministry of Information Industry, PRC, and co- organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Electronics Sub-Council and Reed Exhibition Companies. At the exhibition, Ms Lou announced the results of an analysis on the performance of different types of electronics products during the first half of 1998, stating that production values for capital products, consumer products and components were RMB 82.49 billion, RMB77.21 billion and RMB65.1 billion respectively, representing growth of 36 percent, 27 percent and 14.8 percent over the same period of last year.

From January to May this year, the top 100 electronics enterprises in China achieved a total production value of RMB77.8 billion and a sales value of RMB70 billion. This represents a growth of 15.7 percent and 19 percent correspondingly over the previous year.

Next year's NEPCON/Microelectronics Shenzhen is scheduled for September 7-10 at the same venue, and 85 percent of the exhibition area has been reserved by exhibitors of this year's event on the spot.
