Application: FMS takes over the transfer line business
65
Abstract
Discusses the use of flexible machining systems as a solution when volumes are too low to justify a transfer line. Considers the example of a new engine produced by Francaise de Mecanique for top‐range cars, the first time the company has used FMS. Surmises that the reasons for adopting FMS were: speed of reaction to market demand, quality and workpiece management.
