Language Training: Coping with Diversity

Abstract
Some of the problems facing the diversification of language teaching in Britain and the EC are considered. A strategy of “first foreign language” plus “language‐learning tool‐kit” plus “cognate language learning” is proposed, and its advantages are examined.
