Abstract
In recent years, the use of syndicate groups has been championed by many training professionals and there is a commonly held belief that the use of these syndicate or breakout groups will enhance interaction and the learning experience. Syndicate groups are seen as an effective way to encourage participation, to make the learning experience more interesting, and possibly, to increase group interaction and develop higher‐level learning and problem solving skills. However, many training participants shudder when they hear the trainer yet again announce “now let’s get into small groups and discuss ...”.

Abstract
Describes the “Way of Life” (WoL) Quality Improvement Programme, which was an attempt by Prudential Assurance to improve its position in the marketplace. The programme concentrated originally on the workplace problems and tried to eliminate them. A four‐point strategy was developed and mechanisms were installed to monitor progress. The project has been very successful in terms of reducing unit costs, meeting business targets and improving productivity and externally, Prudential has been seen as a leader in the quality improvement field.

Abstract
Moanin'; Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Blue Note CDP 7 46516 2. Even though this reissue was released several years ago, please get it into your library's collections as well as your own. The late Art Blakey is one of the most important figures in jazz history. He was one of the seminal bebop drummers, but his true niche is as the leader of the Jazz Messengers. Almost every major trumpet player for the last four decades played with Blakey, from Clifford Brown to Fred‐die Hubbard to Wynton Marsalis, and a whole number of others along the way. As well, Blakey's sax players, e.g. Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, et. al., were no slouches.

Abstract
Kent Messenger papers go electronic A £350,000 drive to improve its electronic publishing system is nearing completion for the Kent Messenger Group (KM) of newspapers. When complete, the new system will handle the total advertisement and editorial input and sub‐edit, copy make‐up and accounts for all seventeen KM titles. Among them the various publications generate some 1,200 tabloid pages each week — all of which will be individually composed online at each regional office (as soon as the system is complete) and then transmitted to KM's central production plant for typesetting, make up and printing.
