Sheen Instruments report that 1985 has been their best year for sales of instruments for corrosion control and measurement, including wet and dry film thickness measurement, pinhole detectors and holiday dectors. In fact, Sheen managing director Alan Routs told this journal that in 1986 there will be no price increases for these products. He added: ‘We are delighted to pass on to our customers the cost reduction benefits brought about by substantial volume increases and the efforts of our design and production staff. We believe our product range continues to offer the best value for money in the industry.’

Sheen Instruments range of test instruments for coatings and inks manufacture literally extends from A to Z — from Abrasion testers to Zahn flow cups. During the last four months alone there have been three further additions to what is now the most comprehensive range of test instruments for the coatings industry from any one manufacturer, probably world‐wide.

It was only in march of this year that Sheen Instruments Ltd., 9 Sheendale Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2JL, unveiled its first range of instruments for corrosion measurement and control. This was with the SS1200 digital thickness measurement instrument and a range of portable holiday detectors at the Material Testing Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham. This was soon followed by the launch of the PosiTest ‘Banana’ gauge for NDT measurement of non‐magnetic coatings on steel.

The first four instruments in a new range of equipment for measuring anti‐corrosion coating quality, corrosion rates, and general anti‐corrosion protection were unveiled at last month's Materials Testing Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham.
