Over 1,000 people attended Radtech Europe 91, held in Edinburgh from 29th September‐2nd October, which was the first International Conference Exhibition to be held in the UK devoted entirely to radiation curing. Almost 700 were delegates registered for the Conference which achieved attendance expectations, in spite of the economic recession in N. Europe. These came from as far afield as New Zealand, Brazil, Thailand, Japan and China.

At last year's Powder Coating Conference, pretreatment of surfaces prior to painting was definitely a secondary subject, although most authors noted the necessity more or less in passing. It deserves more attention than that. As a matter of fact. I agree most strongly with Mr Mora‐Gracia, managing director of W.M.S Aerocoat Ltd. who, although unable to attend last year's conference due to illness, stated most emphatically in his paper, the necessity of pretreatment.
