Abstract
Purpose
The aim of this paper is to provide insights and knowledge about the motivations and implications for social enterprises' participation in SIBs, particularly in terms of collaboration and partnership with the public sector, as well as the different positions on this issue. The overall aim, therefore, is to show how social enterprises and public organisations have interacted in the context of SIBs and what has been achieved by participating.
Design/methodology/approach
This multiple case study approach applies qualitative methods like observations and semi-structured and unstructured interviews.
Findings
The study shows that SIBs can be an option for financing social enterprises within a strategy of income diversification and resource dependency. Despite tensions and complexities, SIBs can renew the traditional funding relationship by adding innovation, strengthening the co-creation process and creating a stable relationship.
Research limitations/implications
Research findings may lack generalisability due to the specific context in which the case study is rooted.
Practical implications
The paper offers practical implications in terms of insights and suggestions for social enterprises and the public sector interested in developing the scheme.
Originality/value
This paper adds the voice and perspective of social enterprises on the relationship with the public sector within the framework of SIBs initiatives.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the influences of transformational leadership, job enrichment and recognition on employee job satisfaction in non-profit organizations.
Design/methodology/approach
An empirical study was conducted on employees working in United Malays National Organization (UMNO). Data was collected from 226 employees via self-administered questionnaires. The convenience sampling method was applied for participant selection, and data was analysed using Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression analysis via statistical package for the social sciences.
Findings
Job enrichment, transformational leadership and recognition were all found to have significant and positive relationships with job satisfaction.
Practical implications
The findings imply that job satisfaction will improve if managers are motivated to promote job enrichment, transformational leadership and employee recognition programs. These steps will augment the organization’s effort to design and implement the best strategies for enhancing employees’ job satisfaction.
Originality/value
This study elaborates on transformational leadership, job enrichment and recognition in relation to job satisfaction. The insights it provides are novel due to the lack of research on the combination of these attributes. The study’s model was tested on UMNO, a non-profit organization in Malaysia that plays a significant role in Malaysian politics. Hence, this study provides a valuable addition to the literature on Malaysia. The study’s model was supported by transformational leadership theory and social exchange theory, making it another significant contribution to the body of literature.

Abstract
Purpose
Studies on the work integration of persons with disabilities (PwD) and the role of social dialogue therein are scarce. The study examines how the different systems of workers’ representation and industrial relations in Slovakia and Norway facilitate PwD work integration. Taking a social ecosystem perspective, we acknowledge the role of various stakeholders and their interactions in supporting PwD work integration. The paper’s conceptual contribution lies in including social dialogue actors in this ecosystem.
Design/methodology/approach
Evidence was collected via desk research, 35 semi-structured in-depth interviews with 51 respondents and stakeholder workshops in 2019–2020.
Findings
The findings from Norway confirm the expected coordination of unions and employers in PwD work integration. Evidence from Slovakia shows that in decentralised industrial relations systems, institutional constraints beyond the workplace determine employers’ and worker representatives’ approaches in PwD integration. Most policy-level outcomes are contested, as integration occurs predominantly via sheltered workplaces without interest representation.
Social implications
This paper identifies the primary sources of variation in the work integration of PwD. It also highlights opportunities for social partners across both situations to exercise agency and engagement to improve PwD work integration.
Originality/value
By integrating two streams of literature – social policy and welfare state and industrial relations – this paper examines PwD work integration from a social ecosystem perspective. Empirically, it offers novel qualitative comparative evidence on trade unions’ and employers’ roles in Slovakia and Norway.

Abstract
Purpose
The objective of this study was to assess the incorporation of polyunsaturated omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids in the eggs of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) fed with soybean, flaxseed and shark liver oils, as well as to assess their effects on the chemical composition and lipid quality of the yolks.
Design/methodology/approach
The total of 252 units of quails were distributed in a completely randomized design with seven treatments and six replications, totaling 42 experimental design units. The sources of oils and their inclusions in the experimental diet were 2% of soybean oil (S), 2% of flaxseed oil (L) and 2% shark liver oil (T), obtained from the species Carcharhinus acronotus, and the mixtures of 1% S + 1% L (SL); 1% S + 1% T (ST); 1% L + 1% T (LT) and 0.67% S + 0.67% L + 0.67% T (SLT).
Findings
The proximate composition of the egg yolk was not changed to the supplementation of lipid sources added in quail diet. The total replacement of soybean oil by shark liver oil reduced the cholesterol content in the yolk by 19% (T = 282.97 mg cholesterol/100 g egg) and the addition of flaxseed oil produced eggs with greater amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) (LS = 18.32%). The treatments with flaxseed oil and its mixtures (soybean oil + flaxseed oil and flaxseed oil + shark liver oil) effectively contributed to reducing the ω-6:ω-3 ratio and enriching the quail eggs with PUFAs, especially linolenic acid (18: 3n3c) and EPA (20: 5n3c).
Originality/value
Thus, manipulation in the diet of quails enriched the content of essential PUFAs and reduced the cholesterol content in the yolk. The flaxseed oil was the lipid source that influenced to improve the quality of the egg yolk. These results have practical applicability for the quail egg industry.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the relationship between corporate profitability (CP) and effective tax rate (ETR) and to examine whether this relationship is moderated by board gender diversity (BGD).
Design/methodology/approach
The multivariate regression analysis was conducted to test the relationship between related variables. This study used sample of 70 Jordanian firms listed on the Amman Stock Exchanges for the period 2013 – 2020.
Findings
The results show a negative relationship between CP and ETR. Furthermore, the moderating variable BGD changes the strength and the sign, from a negative to a positive influence, of the relationship between CP and ETR.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this study is among the first that provides empirical evidence regarding the relationship between CP and ETR in the light of BGD. Further, this study provides new and important insights that are not evident from the previous literature.
