Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to address the impact of the related party transactions (RPTs) on firm value. The authors bring evidence from a usually ignored empirical setting: an African emerging market.
Design/methodology/approach
In particular, the authors focus on companies listed on the Egyptian stock market using a sample of EGX 30 from 2012 to 2017.
Findings
Unlike the literature, the authors find no significant relationship between RPTs and market value.
Practical implications
This research provides insights for policymakers and other interested parties concerning the perception of RPTs in Egypt.
Originality/value
The reported different findings of this study assure the intermediary role of the context and the local culture in the relationship between RPTs and firm value, in contrast to the negative view that is mostly reported in the literature.

Abstract
Purpose
As the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan celebrates its first centenary, this paper presents a critical reading of the development of architecture in the Kingdom reflecting the transformation of national identity.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper achieves this aim by performing an analytical diachronic survey of the main architectural styles and trends that emerged in Jordan and links the architectural styles and trends to four main historical periods that characterize the national temporal trajectory, supported by examples of buildings, projects and architects that represent each period.
Findings
The results show the impacts of different forms of architectural modernism on local practice and explore attempts to create a national architectural identity that range in their ideological drive from Pan-Arabism to Jordanian localism.
Originality/value
The research adds to the discourse on Arab cities and architecture and shows the development of architectural trends in an Arab Muslim country, focusing on the interaction of architectural modernism with local variables. The research aims to supplement literature on Arab architecture with a critical and nuanced historical account of Jordanian architecture in the English language to serve a global audience.

Abstract
This chapter examines several viable monetary regimes including the introduction of a Palestinian currency operating under a managed float, a Palestinian currency operating under a currency board, a monetary union with Jordan, the status quo that permits the Jordanian dinar, Israeli shekel, and U.S. dollar as legal tender, and finally, dollarization coupled with the introduction of Palestinian coins. Each of these options is compared on the basis of whether or not it enhances macroeconomic stability, provides the benefits of seignorage, deters inflation, stimulates investment, and encourages fiscal and monetary discipline.

Abstract
Purpose
The miniscule wireless sensor nodes, engaged in the wide range of applications for its capability of monitoring the physical changes around, requires an improved routing strategy with the befitting sensor node arrangement that plays a vital part in ensuring a completeness of the network coverage.
Design/methodology/approach
This paves way for the reduced energy consumption, the enhanced network connections and network longevity. The conventional methods and the evolutionary algorithms developed for arranging of the node ended with the less effectiveness and early convergence with the local optimum respectively.
Findings
The paper puts forward the befitting arrangement of the sensor nodes, cluster-head selection and the delayless routing using the ant lion (A-L) optimizer to achieve the substantial coverage, connection, the network-longevity and minimized energy consumption.
Originality/value
The further performance analysis of the proposed system is carried out with the simulation using the network simulator-2 and compared with the genetic algorithm and the particle swarm optimization algorithm to substantiate the competence of the proposed routing method using the ant lion optimization.
