Abstract
Since convenience is one of the most crucial items in the decision to choose a particular bank, the smallest market share by the British National Girobank (BNG) seems something of an anomaly. A questionnaire survey administered by students using a quota sample showed that general awareness of Girobank is high but detailed awareness of services offered is much lower. Clearly the current promotional strategy used is not effective. Many people would like to see a bank manager provided by BNG but this is unlikely to be introduced. More customers may be gained through the “Link” autoteller. The BNG is seen as a credible financial institution. The results show that two previous criteria, location and personal recommendation, are at variance with recent surveys.

Abstract
The authors are concerned with the problem of pricing the services provided by the clearing banks in the UK. Using group interviews, consumer attitudes to and perceptions of banking services are examined. Conclusions are drawn about the different benefits consumers receive from using banks and suggestions are made as to how these could be used as a basis for consumer‐orientated pricing policy.

Abstract
Wealth transfer taxes, including the estate tax, have been an integral part of American tax policy since the eighteenth century. The current estate tax has its roots in eighteenth century English political philosophy that provides civil law precedent over any natural rights an individual possesses in property. The purpose of the tax is to limit wealth accumulation and discourage the formation of economic dynasties.Since the adoption of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution and passage of the Revenue Act of 1916, the estate tax has largely targeted high-wealth individuals. The modern estate tax began with a narrow base and relatively low rates. The tax base has expanded during the past 80 years to include both estate and lifetime transfers and tax rates have ranged from 10 to 77%. During this time, the degree of rate progressivity has remained high but has decreased since 1976. The incidence of the tax has varied over the years due in large part to the size of the estate tax exemption or its equivalent.The estate tax's contribution to the federal budget has ranged from over five percent to its current level of about one percent. The estate tax's growth, however, has accelerated in recent years as personal wealth has increased and American society has aged.

Since the first Volume of this Bibliography there has been an explosion of literature in all the main areas of business. The researcher and librarian have to be able to uncover specific articles devoted to certain topics. This Bibliography is designed to help. Volume III, in addition to the annotated list of articles as the two previous volumes, contains further features to help the reader. Each entry within has been indexed according to the Fifth Edition of the SCIMP/SCAMP Thesaurus and thus provides a full subject index to facilitate rapid information retrieval. Each article has its own unique number and this is used in both the subject and author index. The first Volume of the Bibliography covered seven journals published by MCB University Press. This Volume now indexes 25 journals, indicating the greater depth, coverage and expansion of the subject areas concerned.

Abstract
Textuality within the Western tradition has functioned in Derrida's analysis as the essential, yet disavowed supplement of a logos that perpetually sets itself against the necessary interventions of writing. Derrida compares textuality to a pharmakon, an ambivalent substance that has the capacity to act as both poison and cure. The ‘cure’ that textuality offers to the law pertains to the law's inability to establish its own permanence, or presence, without some literary intervention: only once it is ‘put into writing’ does the law remain ‘on record’, its permanence ‘ensured [by the text] with the vigilance of a guardian’ (Derrida, 2000b, p. 113). At the same time, however, textuality could be said to commit a kind of crime against the logos: it improperly appropriates the ‘presence’ of the law, steals it and substitutes itself for it. Writing is, as Maurice Blanchot puts it, ‘the enemy of all relationships of presence, of all legality’ (Blanchot, 1987, p. 156). The law's ‘presence’ nevertheless depends upon this criminal narrativity. In particular, the emergence of law requires the emergence of a narrative capable of resolving the trauma that attends the inception of communal and individual subjectivity: the law acquires its ‘presence’ only after a certain violent communal fantasy has established a vital untruth about the law's origins. The founding moment of Western law is a representation of a fictive transgression that serves to account for the terrifying, symbolically unrepresentable rupture that separates the individual and the community from the pre-symbolic void. In order for the law to take its place, it is necessary to stage a ‘crime’ and then to re-present it as the law's sure foundation. This crime is parricide and Derrida links it explicitly to the advent of narrativity as the law's uncanny, necessary condition of being:[…] this quasi-event bears the marks of fictive narrativity (fiction of narration as well as fiction as narration: fictive narration as the simulacrum of narration and not only as the narration of an imaginary history). It is the origin of literature as well as the origin of law – like the dead father, a story told, a spreading rumour, without author or end, but an ineluctable and unforgettable story. (Derrida, 1992, p. 199)

Abstract
Purpose
This study investigates the determinants of effective human and artificial intelligence (AI) relationship-building strategies for brands. It explores the antecedents and consequences of consumers' interactant satisfaction with communication and identifies ways to enhance consumer purchase intention via AI chatbot promotion.
Design/methodology/approach
Microsoft Xiaoice served as the focal AI chatbot, and 331 valid samples were obtained. A two-stage structural equation modeling-artificial neural network approach was adopted to verify the proposed theoretical model.
Findings
Regarding the IQ (intelligence quotient) and EQ (emotional quotient) of AI chatbots, the multi-dimensional social support model helps explain consumers' interactant satisfaction with communication, which facilitates affective attachment and purchase intention. The results also show that chatbots should emphasize emotional and esteem social support more than informational support.
Practical implications
Brands should focus more on AI chatbots' emotional and empathetic responses than functional aspects when designing dialogue content for human–AI interactions. Well-designed AI chatbots can help marketers develop effective brand promotion strategies.
Originality/value
This research enriches the human–AI interaction literature by adopting a multi-dimensional social support theoretical lens that can enhance the interactant satisfaction with communication, affective attachment and purchase intention of AI chatbot users.

Appearance in this column does not preclude a later review in RSR. Publishers are urged to send a copy of all new reference books directly to RSR as soon as published, for immediate listing in “Reference Books in Print.” Reference books with imprints older than two years will not be included (with the exception of current reprints or older books newly acquired for distribution by another publisher). The column shall also occasionally include library science or other library related publications of other than a reference character.
