Abstract

Purpose

Aspect-based sentiment analysis (ASA) is a task of sentiment analysis that requires predicting aspect sentiment polarity for a given sentence. Many traditional techniques use graph-based mechanisms, which reduce prediction accuracy and introduce large amounts of noise. The other problem with graph-based mechanisms is that for some context words, the feelings change depending on the aspect, and therefore it is impossible to draw conclusions on their own. ASA is challenging because a given sentence can reveal complicated feelings about multiple aspects.

Design/methodology/approach

This research proposed an optimized attention-based DL model known as optimized aspect and self-attention aware long short-term memory for target-based semantic analysis (OAS-LSTM-TSA). The proposed model goes through three phases: preprocessing, aspect extraction and classification. Aspect extraction is done using a double-layered convolutional neural network (DL-CNN). The optimized aspect and self-attention embedded LSTM (OAS-LSTM) is used to classify aspect sentiment into three classes: positive, neutral and negative.

Findings

To detect and classify sentiment polarity of the aspect using the optimized aspect and self-attention embedded LSTM (OAS-LSTM) model. The results of the proposed method revealed that it achieves a high accuracy of 95.3 per cent for the restaurant dataset and 96.7 per cent for the laptop dataset.

Originality/value

The novelty of the research work is the addition of two effective attention layers in the network model, loss function reduction and accuracy enhancement, using a recent efficient optimization algorithm. The loss function in OAS-LSTM is minimized using the adaptive pelican optimization algorithm, thus increasing the accuracy rate. The performance of the proposed method is validated on four real-time datasets, Rest14, Lap14, Rest15 and Rest16, for various performance metrics.

Abstract

Purpose

The study aims to fabricate large metal components with overhangs built on cylindrical or conical surfaces with a high dimensional precision. It proposes methods to address the problems of generating tool-paths on cylindrical or conical surfaces simply and precisely, and planning the welding process on these developable surfaces.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper presents the algorithm of tool-paths planning on conical surfaces using a parametric slicing equation and a spatial mapping method and deduces the algorithm of five-axis transformation by addressing the rotating question of two sequential points. The welding process is investigated with a regression fitting model on a flat surface, and experimented on a conical surface, which can be flattened onto a flat surface.

Findings

The paper provides slicing and path-mapping expressions for cylindrical and conical surfaces and a curvature-speed-width (CSW) model for wire and arc additive manufacturing to improve the surface appearances. The path-planning method and CSW model can be applied in the five-axis fabrication of the prototype of an underwater thruster. The CSW model has a confidence coefficient of 98.02% and root mean squared error of 0.2777 mm. The reverse measuring of the finished blades shows the residual deformation: an average positive deformation of about 0.5546 mm on one side of the blades and an average negative deformation of about −0.4718 mm on the other side.

Research limitations/implications

Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability for the fabrication based on arbitrary surfaces.

Originality/value

This paper presented an integrated slicing, tool-path planning and welding process planning method for five-axis wire and arc additive manufacturing.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose is to bring together all bibliographic references of the published literature on electronic books (e‐books) and related technologies in one source so that it will save time for others in conducting literature searches and reviewing the developments.

Design/methodology/approach

The information included in this bibliography is collected systematically from all the published sources in the world such as journal articles, conference papers, conference proceedings, books, reports and PhD theses on e‐books until the last quarter of 2004. Mainly it covers e‐books, e‐books publishing, the impact of e‐books on different types of users, e‐book publishing techniques and trends, e‐book user interfaces and other technologies related to e‐publications.

Findings

As computer usage continues to grow exponentially, the desire of users to use electronic publications (e‐publications) has also increased tremendously. This has led to the publication of materials in electronic form as e‐publications on both CD‐ROMs and web. The e‐book is one of the several forms of e‐publications and its popularity has been growing steadily for the past decade.

Originality/value

This bibliography will be useful to all researchers conducting research in any areas related to e‐books and e‐book publishing.

Abstract

As the cognitive sciences – particularly neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and a rejuvenated artificial intelligence movement that has largely abandoned the model of the mind as a formal machine – have seen major development over the past quarter-century, it is inevitable that the findings thrown up by this ‘cognitive revolution’ should be examined for their relevance to the understanding of economic behavior. This ongoing examination has tended to emphasize those characteristics of human cognitive capabilities that call into question the descriptive adequacy of the rational-choice model, focusing on departures from individual rationality that may have economic consequences at the market level.1 Such a move may be the obvious one for an economist confronted with this interdisciplinary challenge, but it is not the only one. The new insights into the functioning of the brain can also be deployed in the understanding of complex systems in general – and of specific social arrangements in particular – and that is the direction taken here. By critically examining the systemic similarities and differences between the social arrangements of science and market, the aim is to show how a complex systems approach, inspired by developments in cognitive psychology but applying these at the level of the system rather than of the individual, can provide a new and useful way of understanding social systems.
