Foxconn Hon Hai launches USD 45 million greenfield investment

(Interfax Hungary Weekly Business Report) Foxconn Hungary Kft, a subsidiary of the Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., will carry out a USD 45 million greenfield investment in the Komarom industrial park (north of Budapest). Foxconn is a major supplier of mobile phone maker Nokia, which also has a production site in the Komarom industrial park. The new factory will manufacture parts for computers, mobile phones and other electronic equipment, and is to launch production in March 2004. The plant will initially employ 30 people, which is set to rise to around 1,600 within 2 years. Foxconn bought a 5-hectare plot in the park from the local municipality.
