SMTA is again co-locating its annual conference, SMTA International, with the Assembly Tech Expo (ATExpo) show this fall at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois (September 22-26). Featuring SMT, Optoelectronics, Flip Chip, MEMS, Chip Scale, BGA, Automotive, Process Control and more, SMTA International is dedicated to surface mount, advanced packaging, and related technologies.

This year's program will consist of 32 courses, 11 of which are new; symposiums on Lead Free and Contract Manufacturing; free events daily focusing on Printing, Standards, AOI, Roadmaps, Advanced Packaging and EMS; as well as 112 papers presented by today's leading researchers from companies, such as Intel, Motorola, IBM, 3M, Celestica, Seagate, Sanmina-SCI, Daimler- Chrysler, Solectron, Raytheon, Delphi Delco, Flextronics International, Boeing, and Sun Microsystems. University research from six leading universities will also be presented as well as 12 international papers.

Paper sessions are organized into tracks on Manufacturing and Assembly, Advanced Packaging, Soldering, Process Control, Substrates, Test and Inspection, and Contract Manufacturing/Business Issues. Four new sessions will be devoted to Manufacturing Excellence, along with two dedicated test sessions and three 0201 sessions. Also returning will be the Emerging Technologies Summit, where attendees will get a glimpse of what the future holds for the electronics manufacturing industry.

Led by conference chair Rob Rowland, RadiSys Corporation, the highly regarded SMTA International Technical Advisory Committee is comprised of electronics manufacturing and packaging experts who represent all facets of the industry.
