Letter to the Editor

In high quality journals, the peer review process is intended to ensure that the articles are new, true and interesting – a very high standard as most of us would agree. Many academic journals have let the process run off the rails, with self-absorbed experts carefully policing their fields so that their own ideas continue to dominate. My recent experience working with your able reviewers on the “Visible Options” piece falls at the opposite end of the spectrum. Your reviewers were welcoming and encouraging and actively collaborated with me during several iterative sets of comments and revisions to move the article well beyond where it started. Thanks to your team, it was a great experience.
