India Strategy Forum 2011

30 November 2011-1 December 2011, New Delhi, Delhi, India

Indian economy is on a growth trajectory and one after another study is projecting India among leading economies of future. The role and significance of India in the global economy is continuously increasing. The interest in strategy in Indian context has gained currency in last decade of twentieth century particularly post liberalization of 1991. India offers enormous opportunities to both individuals and organizations. At the same time India also provides numerous challenges.

The noted author Rudyard Kipling once said that India was such a diverse country that you made any statement and opposite of that was also true. How to face these challenges and successfully serve the Indian market requires substantial strategic thought, guidance and implementation; and which is the primary reason for organizing this strategy forum with a focus on practice.

The forum has high profile experts from industry, government, think tanks, international organizations and academia to deliberate on various strategic issues in Indian context including rise of India and the opportunities and challenges, innovations, technology strategy, SMEs and entrepreneurship, competitive strategy, co-operative strategy, mergers and acquisitions, CSR, corporate governance, marketing strategy, financial strategy, operations strategy, human resource strategy, Indian multinationals, etc.

The forum is an ideal place for senior corporate executives, strategy practitioners, policy makers and researchers engaged in or are going to engage in near future with India.

MIC 2011 – Management International Conference, Managing Sustainability?

23-26 November 2011, Portoroz, Slovenia

Management International Conference (MIC) is a traditional conference for scholars of management studies, welcoming participants from around the world, with broad and diverse research interests. Its aim is to present and discuss research that contributes to the sharing of new theoretical, methodological and empirical knowledge, and to better understanding of management practices.

The special focus of MIC 2011 is on the controversial issue of whether, and how, sustainability can really be “managed”. Sustainability has become one of the highest priorities on social development and corporate responsibility agendas, yet the concept remains highly contested. On the one hand, it has evolved from being a “limit to growth” of economies and businesses into a comprehensive alternative development paradigm and practice. On the other hand, it has also devolved into being a “commodity” that sells well on the market and that can be managed in ways similar to other business or social resources. Where on this broad range of possible meanings do we find our current personal, corporate and policy practices? Why is sustainability so fashionable? Is future sustainable and is there a future for sustainability?

Contributions from various areas of management are welcome; also scholars in other disciplines offering new perspectives on the conference theme are encouraged to participate. The conference will focus on the following topics:

  • Business administration, organization, and marketing.

  • Creativity, innovation, and technology.

  • Knowledge management and human resources.

  • Small business and entrepreneurship.

  • E-business and information technology.

  • Social issues in management.

  • Sustainable development and management.

  • Sustainable development and education.

  • Economic, financial and legal issues in management.

  • Research methods.
