9th International Quality Management of Organizational Development ConferenceLiverpool, UK, 9-11 August, 2006

Organized by Liverpool John Moores University (Faculty of Business and Law) UK, Lunds University (Institute of Service Management) and Linköping University (Division of Quality Management) Sweden. As the conference title indicates, the principal aim of the QMOD conferences has been to provide a unique international forum to exchange knowledge on the multidisciplinary nature of research and practice of business issues related to Quality Management and People Management for Organizational Development. Business environments are constantly evolving towards higher complexity. Hyper competition, increasing importance of intangible assets, cultural and ethnical diversity, focus on quality of life, gender, organizational ecology, corporate governance, environmental and sustainability are all issues which challenge today’s management on their journey towards excellence. The focus on the 9th QMOD is thus Creativity, Governance and Transformation.

2006 Academy of Management Annual Meeting: Knowledge, Action and the Public ConcernAtlanta, Georgia, August 11-16, 2006

In 2006, the Academy of Management will hold its 66th annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. We once again invite management scholars from around the globe to convene, consort and attend. Like every Academy meeting, there will be excellent conversation, good friends and, of course, good cheer. Simultaneously, we gather to celebrate what we do best, namely, advancing management research while solving real-world problems.

This year’s theme, Knowledge, Action and the Public Concern, explores the linkages among organizational knowledge, managerial action and the major issues that face people in the global and knowledge economy.

  • First, we want to push the bounds of our current theories and research.

  • Second, we want to highlight the concrete action-implications from our evidence-based knowledge.

  • Third and perhaps most important, we want to focus our evidence-based and actionable knowledge on the great questions of the day.

At the 2006 AOM meetings in Atlanta, please join your friends and colleagues from around the world and engage in the discussion involving the interplay of Knowledge, Action and the Public Concern. In the words of the world famous, Professor Albus Dumbledore, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we really are … .”

The Academy of Management Annual Meeting is comprised of two unique sections:

Professional Development Workshops (Friday-Sunday, August 11-13)

The Academy meetings’ Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) are a platform for colleagues to share knowledge and expertise and foster the development of workshop participants. The PDW program is coordinated by the Academy’s many divisions, interest groups, and theme committees.

Refereed Scholarly Program (Monday-Wednesday, August 14-16)

The scholarly program is the main attraction of the Academy Annual Meeting. It consists of a series of conventional paper sessions, visual paper sessions, interactive paper sessions and various symposium sessions such as All Academy, Showcase, and Division that have been carefully selected and organized by the Academy’s 24 divisions and interest groups. Additionally there are Academy Caucuses that offer a convenient and informal setting for members with shared interests to meet.
