INX Digital International debuts new generation high-speed UV curable printer at FESPA

Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 38, Issue 5

INX Digital International Co. recently introduced the Milano DXN1, a new advanced-generation UV curable printer for high-speed, single-pass scanning applications. The new printer will be displayed at FESPA Digital 2009, which runs now through May 14 at the RAI International Exhibition and Congress Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Engineered by Anteprima – which is now part of INX Digital – and manufactured by Italy’s Neolt in a joint venture, the Milano DXN1 features variable-drop capabilities of the Xaar 1001 printhead. It is based on innovative Xaar Hybrid Side-Shooter and TF Technology for accurate drop control, superior print quality and productivity at speeds up to 1,300 ft2/h.

Initially available in Europe through INX Digital and Neolt, the Milano DXN1 will be distributed globally through the INX Digital network.

“The Milano DXN1 is the first printer of its type on the market with this single-pass scanning print mode,” said INX Digital’s Paolo Capano. “We are delivering advanced technology that can move the digital printing industry forward, with engineering that incorporates advanced printheads originally designed for high-speed narrow web label printing. Here, they can provide both the high-resolution quality and print speed to make the Milano DXN1 a viable alternative for a vast array of additional applications.”

“The decision to integrate the industrial strength Xaar 1001 printhead as a key component in the Milano DXN1 is an important endorsement of our technology,” says Phil Eaves, Xaar Sales and Marketing Director. “The ability to produce dynamically variable drop sizes is essential to meet the quality and performance required for today’s demanding printing applications.”

The drop size of the Xaar 1001 ranges from 6 to 42 picoliters. This enables the Milano DXN1 to achieve near photo quality with up to 1,200 dpi resolution at 40 m2/h. Output at the larger drop size can extend up to 140 m2, nearly 1,300 ft2/h.

Capano said INX Digital International combines this advanced technology with a full stable of proven high-performance inks designed for the Xaar 1001 printhead by INX Digital UV ink specialists. Recognized globally for consistent color quality and high adhesion on rigid material as well as flexible media, the inks are aligned with the Milano DXN1’s ability to print directly onto flat sheets as well as roll-to-roll. The inks used are from INX Digital’s own Triangle brand and Media options range from vinyl, banner and polyethylene – including highly durable recyclable PE – to paper and textiles, as well as panel.

“The Milano DXN1 exemplifies the multi-faceted global capabilities that INX Digital International brings to the marketplace,” Mr Capano said “We are combining USA-based internal electronics engineering, Xaar printhead technology and European manufacturing by Neolt, plus high-performance UV inks, to deliver a major advance in digital printing capabilities.”
