Cost effective anti-static electrically conductive latex coating

Article Type: New materials and equipment From: Pigment & Resin Technology. Volume 37, Issue 3.

Master Bond LTX-117G is low cost, electrically conductive, water-based adhesive, sealant and coating developed by Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, NJ. It is a one-part, UV stable latex adhesive where the electrical conductivity is achieved by the incorporation of non-metallic graphite filler. Master Bond Polymer System LTX-117G dries by water evaporation at ambient temperatures, to provide cost effective coatings with controlled electrical properties including use in ESD anti-static systems. It has a service temperature of 60 to 250ºF.

LTX-117G is characterized by long- term viscosity stability, flexibility and good physical strength characteristics, low odor and good adhesion to a wide range of both rigid and flexible substrates. The graphite filler also features excellent oxidation resistance. The LTX-117G latex product is water soluble and does not contain any VOC solvents. Typically, water-based resins will result in less environmental or regulatory control-related problems. It is available in pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon containers.
