Sun Chemical's WetFlex system wins Environmental Innovation Award

Sun Chemical's ground-breaking WetFlex system and UniQure inks have been recognized for their low environmental impact with “The Award for Innovation Environmental” at the Flexotech International Print and Innovation Awards (London, UK).

The WetFlex technology delivers wet- on-wet flexographic printing and represents the latest technology in environmentally-friendly print solutions. It is designed to meet the needs of the flexible packaging market for improved print quality, efficiency and low-environmental impact.

WetFlex uses the UniQure inks, a new generation energy curable ink technology specially developed for the process. The inks contain no alcohols, organic solvents or volatile compounds other than water. Ink trapping is achieved without inter-station drying, so no solvent recovery system or incineration is necessary when using the inks in normal printing operations; no VOC is released during printing and no carbon dioxide is emitted when using this system. The environmentally- friendly WetFlex technology consumes low energy and delivers the highest quality flexo printed package to present, protect and preserve the product.
