Holliday Pigments disperses new products into Europe

Keywords: Pigments, Inks, Coatings

Showcasing its latest unique products, the world's largest manufacturer of ultramarine blue pigments, Holliday Pigments, attended the European Coatings Show 2005 this April in Nuremberg to demonstrate the diversity its Artizan AF, Ultramarine TR and Artizan Deko ranges offer a multitude of industries.

As the only ultramarine manufacturer of dispersions for liquid ink, Holliday Pigments' Artizan AF range is already meeting popular demand from the Aqueous Flexographic ink market. The stronger tinting grades and high strength required for the ink market makes Artizan AF unique. The range consists of the AF-R and the AF-S, both of which can be used on brown Kraft paper and packaging substrates. The AF-R is also successfully used in a new water based artists' colour range, improving stability and enabling high solids content in the finished product, whilst the AF-S achieves a cost-effective yet improved undertone for a range of white paints.

Ultramarine TR, specifically formulated for special effect coatings, boasts the transparency of a dye yet the fastness of a pigment. Maintaining its bright red-shade blue colour, the inorganic pigment is easily dispersible in both water-based and solvent-based coatings, optimum dispersion being obtainable after only one pass through a high-speed mill. The product will appeal to a host of manufacturers, being used to obtain flamboyant finishes for bicycles, motor cycles, electrical appliances and mobile telephones.

Equally compatible in all aqueous systems, Artizan Deko is a new range of liquid ultramarines from Holliday Pigments. The high solids, simple “stir in” dispersions provide interior and exterior decorative coatings manufacturers with an innovative alternative whilst upholding Holliday Pigments' stringent environmental standards.

Looking forward to the event, Holliday Pigments Sales & Marketing Director, Steve Bell, comments: “We were delighted to be able to take such a great display of products to the European Coatings Show this April. Ultramarine blue has always been a popular shade for coatings but with our new TR range we can offer manufacturers and designers a unique blue which is perfect for full shades and for carrying special effect pigments”.

In an increasingly environmentally conscious marketplace, Holliday Pigments' ultramarine blues have a favourable toxicity profile, satisfy low trace metals requirements, are worldwide food contact approved and are also completely safe for use in toys. The company is dedicated to sustainable manufacture and believe a product should be judged throughout its life cycle – from cradle to grave. The company is the only ultramarine manufacturer in the world to have invested over $30 million in FGD plants, reducing sulphur dioxide emissions inherent in the manufacturing process by more than 99.5 percent.
