The National Paint & Coatings Association (NPCA), Washington, invites all members to offer submissions for its 2005 Safety Awards Program. NPCA's Safety Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievements in plant-safety performance. NPCA will only accept entries via its web-based electronic entry form, which may be accessed at www.paint.org/member/safety/. For those members who would like to use a paper copy of the questionnaire to gather data before entering it electronically, the form is available at the same web address.

The purpose of the program goes beyond recognizing superior safety performance; it also enables the collection of valuable data. This information on industry safety is useful to member companies in assessing the effectiveness of their safety programs as compared to others in the industry. NPCA operates the program in the hopes that it will provide information that can be utilized by the association and its members to promote the association's industry commitment to workplace safety with various government agencies.

The awards will be presented for safety performance on a plant-by-plant basis. Deadline for entries via NPCA's web site is 31 August 2005. Award recipients will be recognized at the association's annual meeting in Cleveland and in the November/December issue of its coatings newsletter. Award certificates will be mailed to recipients prior to the conference.

Contact NPCA's Skip Edwards (sedwards@paint.org) for information on the four categories of Safety Awards and other program questions, or NPCA's Shaun Murray (smurray@paint.org) for technical support.
