Chiltern Adhesives, a UK adhesive supplier, reports that it has introduced a comprehensive range of hi-tec polymer tape based sealants and adhesives (Plate 4).

Chiltern's Butyl range is described as ideal for sealing and bonding an enormous range of materials and products with. almost any combination of bond and seal types or strengths. Seals can be hermetic, waterproof, UV resistant, weatherproof, ductile and temperature resistant and considered suitable for anything up to, and including, the kitchen sink!

Being supplied in tape format, all of the products claim precise positioning and are quick, safe and easy to apply as well as being virtually mess free. Applications range from bonding and sealing panels, frames, roofing and heating components, water and damp-proof membranes and even an easy- puncture product, which can have a bolt pushed through it without drawing the tape into the hole.

A wide range of permutations and properties are available, including tapes that are aluminium backed, hand or gun applied, “toffee” tapes, widths between 3 and 300mm, thickness' from 1 to 2Omm, various colours and a wide range of bond and seal strengths.

Chiltern can also custom-convert the tapes to meet a customer's exact specification.
