Extinguisher manufacturers offered overall quality control bonuses

Extinguisher manufacturers offered overall quality control bonusesKeywords: Plascoat, Linings, Fire safety

Plascoat reports that fire extinguisher cylinder manufacturers are being offered a "smooth" path to improved product quality, also greatly reduced reject rates with the launch of a new single shot lining.

PPA684 joins Plascoat Performance Polymer Alloy (PPA) series that already includes PPA665, an Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) resistant coating.

According to Plascoat for a small premium the new PPA684 lining offers properties that allow some overall product quality problems to be resolved. They reportedly include better flow and consequent coverage of welds; a less critical application temperature requirement with no effect on adhesion; and the easier repair of reject cylinders.

The Plascoat PPA600 Series is believed to provide the most economic and effective solutions for fire extinguisher lining, partly due to the fact that no primer is required in a process reduced to a single application.

In addition to PPA684, now available for rotational lining, and the standard PPA665, the PPA600 Series includes a high flow version PPA665HF for spin coating and PPA664 for spraying. Sister product PPA571 is also available for both external and internal cylinder coating.
