Elementis Specialties focused on three product ranges at the recent Eurocoat 1999 exhibition. The company recently launched a new range of high-quality, cost-effective coatings grade pigments. This includes a high performance, easy dispersing yellows and reds, designed to provide excellent colour properties in both solvent based and water based systems.

Key products in the yellow range are the easy dispersing grades YLO1988D and YLO2288D, with the mid-shade Kroma reds RO2097, RO3097, RO4597 and RO5597.

For specialist uses Elementis has developed a light, yellow shade Copperas red R1099D. This, it is said, can be used to extend organic pigments. Improvements in exterior durability may be achieved as well as reduced pigment costs.

Also new are low viscosity Ultra Yellows YV1988 and YV2288. These products are thought to offer the user the ability to achieve higher loading levels in both waterborne and solvent based grinding systems when compared to standard grade yellow iron oxides.

Elementis Specialties are also launching new Benaqua 1000 Thickener. The polysaccharide technology used in the development of Benaqua 1000 is believed to provide a low-cost alternative to high viscosity grade hydroxy ethyl cellulose.

This new thickener claims applications in emulsion paints, waterborne adhesives and sealants, household cleaners and polishes, crop protection agents, paper coatings, construction products and waterborne inks.

Another new product launched is RHEOLATE 212, described as a VOC-free associative polyether polyurethane thickener for high shear-rate viscosity build in waterborne systems.

RHEOLATE 212 is designed for use in high gloss decorative coatings, emulsion paints and other waterborne systems including inks, textile coatings, adhesives and sealants where maintaining viscosity at high-shear during product application and improved film levelling are required.
