Zeneca (UK) and Solvay (Belgium) announce that they have signed final agreement for the acquisition by Solvay of Zeneca's Winnofil® business (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate). All 65 employees located at the Winnofil production unit at Lostock, near Manchester, UK, will transfer with the business.

Through this acquisition, Solvay intends to confirm its commitment to increase its presence in the UK and to expand its activities in specialities.

"The production unit in Lostock complements particularly well our activities in Europe, where we are already present with four PCC production units on the continent", says Mr Francis Coustry, managing director of SBU-Fillers of Solvay. "The Winnofil qualities complement our existing wide range of Socal® products enabling us to offer our customers a larger choice of specialities, better flexibility and better service."
