PPG Industries has completed transfer of its Asia-Pacific regional business development and coordination headquarters from Tokyo to Hong Kong to be more centrally and strategically located in relation to the company's interests in the region.
Arend W.D. Vos, president, Asia/Pacific, PPG Industries International Inc., said gradual relocation of regional management functions to offices in Hong Kong's Cityplaza One began more than a year ago.
PPG completes acquisition of Australian coatings business
PPG Industries has also completed the acquisition, for about US$150 million, of the technical coating business of Orica Ltd, Melbourne, Australia, following government review.
The business PPG has acquired includes Orica's automotive refinish, automotive original equipment, coil, packaging and production coatings, generating annual sales of about US$100 million.
The transaction included manufacturing and related facilities at Clayton, near Melbourne.
James W. Craig, vice-president of European development, has retired from PPG Industries, concluding a near 23-year association with the company's coatings businesses.
