Article Type: Food facts June 2008 From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 38, Issue 6.

The UK's leading honey packer, Rowse, will diversify its Manuka Honey and Honeys of the World range this summer, offering consumers the added convenience of an upside down squeezy bottle. The business makes the addition to its portfolio following the rise in popularity of the squeezy honey format. Speciality honeys currently account for the largest growth sector in the honey market, sales increasing by 22 per cent in 2007.

The power house of the sector is Manuka Honey, responsible for 27 per cent of UK specialty honey sales. Its widely publicised health benefits and “superfood” reputation have created increasing consumer demand driving Rowse Manuka consumption by 150 per cent in the last year.

Rowse is part of the Wellness Foods group which also includes Grove Fresh Organic fruit juices, Dorset Cereals, Stream Foods, Paradise Foods and Orchard House Foods.
