Article Type: Food Facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 38, Issue 3.

This seminar held on March 4, 2008 focused on the European Commission proposals and latest developments on food labelling, as well as the growing concern over food additives.

The morning was structured to be of practical use to policy makers considering future approaches to these issues. Discussion included views on how consumers, the food industry and others have been affected by labelling regulations, as well as help evaluate latest thinking on clarity, legibility and the design of labels including latest thinking behind ethical labelling, exploring the practicalities behind fair trade and the carbon footprint on food labels.
