The Food Industry Sustainability Strategy

Morning, Tuesday 17 July 2007, Over-Seas House, Park Place, St James's Street, London SW1A 1LR

The focus for this meeting is latest thinking on implementing Defra's Food Industry Sustainability Strategy (FISS), following the Champions' Group's recommendations on its implementation.

The morning is structured to be of practical use to both policy makers considering future approaches to these issues, the food industry including retailers, producers and manufactures, and consumer groups and individuals with a particular interest in this area. It is organised impartially and independently by the Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum.

Speakers include:

  • Lord Rooker, Minister of State (Sustainable Farming and Food), Defra, will be giving keynote addresses at this seminar.

  • Laura Kelly, Senior Agriculture and Trade Adviser, Department for International Development, will also be giving an address.

  • John Dyson, Food and Technical Affairs Adviser, British Hospitality Association.

  • Dr Alan Knight, Sustainable Development Consultant, SAB Miller and Chair of the Ethical Trading.

  • Bart Dalla Mura, Chief Executive, Bernard Matthews.

  • Fiona Gooch, Private Sector Policy Adviser, Traidcraft.

  • Dr Janet Haddock-Fraser, Senior Lecturer – Management & CSR/Environment, Kent Business School.

  • Vicki Hird, Food and Farming Campaigner, Friends of the Earth.

  • Jonathan Horrell, Corporate Affairs Manager, Kraft Foods.

  • Barbara Saunders, Consumer Consultant, Foodaware.

  • Robin Tapper, Food Chain Relations Manager, National Farmers Union.
