Canderel sponsors new web site and helps fight obesity

As part of a long history of helping patients and healthcare professionals in the fight against obesity, Canderel has sponsored the development of the patient support section of the National Obesity Forum's (NOF) new website. The new website features information on diet, exercise and obesity for both healthcare professionals and those trying to lose weight. It also provides visitors with advice on eating healthily, including reducing the amount of sugar that they consume by substituting sugar in meals and snacks with low calorie sweeteners.

Canderel's support of the NOF website is part of its extensive campaign to help healthcare professionals educate patients about good diet and nutrition and the role that low calorie sweeteners play in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. This has included development of the Essential Low Sugar Guide - a practical resource for healthcare professionals to use to help overweight and diabetic patients control the sugar in their diet and manage their weight.

Obesity is one of the biggest threats to long-term health in the UK and the Essential Low Sugar Guide and NOF website are two invaluable resources that aid communication between the healthcare practitioner and the patient, and help patients better understand the many simple and effective things they can do to manage their weight.

As with the NOF website the Essential Low Sugar Guide advises that a balanced diet need not be sugar free, but that cutting down the amount of sugar in the diet is an effective way of reducing calorie intake. Low calorie sweeteners, such as Canderel can be used in place of sugar in drinks, on fruit, in desserts and even in baking.
