Coeliac desease
Coeliac disease is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorder in the UK, affecting approximately one in 100 people. People with coeliac disease must avoid eating any gluten and this means cutting out regular foods like bread and pasta from their diet. Evidence shows that by providing patients with the right quantities of gluten-free foods on prescription healthcare professionals can help people with coeliac disease adhere to a gluten-free diet and help prevent the long-term risks (e.g. anaemia and osteoporosis) associated with the disorder.
