The work of the United Nations Codex Alimentarius Commission has been discussed previously.
The Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection and Certification Systems met in Perth, Australia in mid-December 2000. Papers considered at this meeting included:

Proposed draft guidelines for food import systems.

Proposed draft guidelines for the utilisation and promotion of quality assurance systems to meet requirements in relation to food.

Proposed draft guidelines on the judgement of equivalence of sanitary measures associated with food inspection and certification systems.

Proposed draft guidelines on the judgement of equivalence of technical regulations with food inspection and certification systems.
- •
Discussion paper on risk management guidelines for food control emergency situations involving international trade.
- •
Discussion paper on food export control systems.
